New year and new things to see so lets kick off with this rare item - from mid-late 1970s, it was TOL for its time - in London

Electra Mid 1970s

And actually the last gasp for English Electric as a stand alone brand (rather than a label stick on Hotpoints) it was branded Electra for sale through electricity boards - this is a direct descendant of the Rapide series cookers. And the only British manufacturer of the time to offer a coloured appliances (as opposed to white or variations of black and stainless steel) - others came after but I believe this to be the first. They also came in green and brown

I don't know a great deal about GEC cookers I mist admit as many did not seem to make their way to NI where I grew up. I would date this one at mid- late 1960s

A long standing RH design, available in plain finish or to match many popular tea sets of the time - I have the same design with matching heated milk jug in the Poppy design, a set my parents had.

Electric this time.

I must admit I have had to think long and hard about this one as it could have been a strong contender for my new kitchen and if it had been the earlier model with the solid white doors (rather like the early gas one above) I would definitely have gone for it.

Ironically it about three miles from where I used to live.

Nice Kenwood Chefette

For those whose finances would not run to a Kenwood Chef there was always the Chefette. I believe that this too is a Kenneth Grange design update on the earlier model. This example looks to be in very nice condition

Another English Electric - In Luton

The predecessor model to the EE Rapide back up the thread. Given that this cooker is some 50 years old it is in remarkably good condition. This cooker is around 18-19 inches wide and the pictures give a good example of the oven and inner door arrangement. By the way the elements are on the left and right hand side of the oven behind the removable stay clean linings.
