Still trying to get my newly purchased 2nd hand washer running. Have called Miele Tech support, they said to make sure threads on cabinet and filter are clean, they are clean as can be. They said to make sure the cap is very tight, it is on tightly.Originally I had a clog and had to clean the drain filter numerous times to flush out all of the old flakey maybe detergent(?) build up. Now it is clear but when I put water in the machine or the detergent drawer, it immediately comes out the tube of the manual drain clean out while the cap is tighly closed. My machine will not hold water, what am I doing wrong? Is there any kind of a water valve or something I need to reset? Getting very frustrated, would like to hear from anyone with knowledge about these machines. Thank you.

I do not see a washer, please tell me where I would look for it.Originally I had to take off the drain tube to clean because it was caked up, when I rinsed it out, I did not see a washer come out, just flakey sand sediment.

I removed the hose tube for manually draining the machine, cleaned it and put it back on, it was totally clogged. That is where the machine is leaking, I guess I would say it is leaking out of the spigot. I also cleaned a port on the right side, inside the drain pump housing that was clogged solid with sediment. Miele Techs told me clean with a toothbrush and I did.

On the Miele W1903, one turns the cap on the Drain Pump Housing and that allows the water to come out the tube, once all the water is out, one removes the cap.It was Miele who instructed me to take the tube off and clean out. It came off and went back on no problem. It is a black rubber tube with a down turned elbow.

Well then at least I cannot offer anything further.

Read over the owner's manual for W1903 washers and it states to extend the drain tube, turn the drain pump cover 2x-3x and water will start draining out of the tube. Once water has ceased one is to remove the drain cap to clean the lint filter, the replace reversing the above. No where does it mention removing the entire drain tube or any part and reinserting.

Suggest contacting Miele again on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday and doubt they are open), and again describing your problem, the initial advice received and how you acted upon it.

This is not rocket science. It should be easy enough to figure out what is happening just by looking at the pieces involved. I'm not familiar with the machine but a few makes have a stowed rubber hose so you can drain the filter housing. Sometimes the hose gets perished and leaks after being used. Sometimes people just pull too hard on it and damage or completely detach the hose....

The hose itself is not leaking due to a material breakdown or damage of the rubber. It is just leaking out the spigot! If I put a cork in the end of the spigot it would probably stop, but it was OK prior to the clog problem. I did something during the cleaning process and cannot get it to stop leaking. I have done every step in the owners manual and I am stumped, why it is still leaking? I will be calling Miele Tech support Tuesday AM as soon as they open.During my Friday conversation,Miele Tech thought it has to do with me not cleaning the threads well enough, but trust me, I have vacuumed with shop vac, cleaned every groove with a toothbrush and wiped out with clean towels over 10 times. Thanks everyone for your help.

Filter

Is the filter and cap two independent pieces? If so, perhaps the filter isn't seated properly. Can you leave the filter out as a test?

Foraloysius,Oh no! I never saw a little ball come out of the spigot when I flushed it out, it would have shown up in the sink, it could not pass by my sink drain. And to answer mrb627, I cannot run water through the machine without the cap/filter installed since it is one piece.I am now focusing on the Eco Wash System Ball valve(page 26 of the Miele Technical Info Manual not the owners manual). Perhaps my husband dislodged the seal of that ball when he cleaned out the hose that goes from the bottom of the drum into the Drain Outlet.

Mine looks different. It does not have the cap . It did work properly before the clog.I did remove it from the door bracket to take the picture. The sediment you see under the right hand corner of the machine is what clogged the tube and hoses.

I was wondering if the filter screw cap is polarised? For example, a straight edge on the filter that slots into a groove on one side only, or something along those lines?
