These are the Top 10 Companies considered to be Customer Service "All Stars"

1.Nordstrom
2.Publix Supermarkets
3.Wegmans Supermarkets
4.Starbucks
5.Neiman Marcus
6.Fed Ex
7.Southwest Airlines
8.USAA Insurance
9.UPS
10.T-Mobile

I would add Office Max.. I have had nothing but wondeful experiances with them, in 5 difrrent cities and 12 or so diffrent stores

UPS? You've gotta be kidding me. I have not had good luck with them, if something you ship with them gets damaged it's always your fault! Try to settle a damage claim with them, it usually takes a letter from a lawyer!

I would agree with Nordstrom. I had shopped at their stores in multiple cities across the country and the service has always been consistenly top notch. I just love the Mall of America location!

I think if you look at most of the companies listed here, you will find that they have consistent customer service training for their employees. And that makes a big difference. Other companies should follow suit.

Nordstrom had better have quality customer service, with the prices they charge. I had to be "dressed by Nordstrom" for a previous job, and it was nervewracking: Those $125 ties are a magnet for spills, LOL.

And Southwest may be the tops in Customer Service (I've never had a complaint with that aspect of their operation) but until they go to a more civilized way of seating people, I'll take my chances elsewhere. Maybe I'm just too timid, but I always end up getting shoved in between two loutish people, fresh out of annoyance school. ;-)

I went to the Wegmans that we have here once. The place was like an amusement park. I can't comment on the customer service because you couldn't get close enough to a counter to get any! Plus, I found the place very dark. I'll pass, thanks.

My favourite supermarket isn't on the list

It is a locally owned (17 or so stores) chain called Acme FreshMarket (NOT the same as Philadelphia's Acme).

They've been in business since 1891....lovely produce, good meats, excellent service. I am "known" at my local one, and treated very well. The fact that I always say "please" and "thank you" may or may not have anything to do with it....

They are willing to special order...the floral department has high quality plants and flowers....the deli is good....

Lawrence/Maytagbear

In the Northeast Ohio area Heinen's grocery store seems to be the absolute best as far as service and variety...the only thing is almost everything they carry is a name brand and they don't offer many store-brand lower priced options.

In Texas HEB grocery (H.E. Butt Grocery Co.) seems to be the best. Never had a bad experience at HEB although around here it is often pretty crowded because it's so popular.

Washabear, I work for Wegman's and I have never heard comments like what you have mentioned. Were you at the store during the Grand opening? I know it is like a zoo when they open. My store get's crazy during the holidays. Yes they do have low lighting levels, I find it a problem sometimes wehn trying to read labels. We also may not have the crowded problem because we have three stores in our area. We must be doing something right because we just won the food network award for best supermarket.

Actually it was about a year after the grand opening. Maybe I should partly attribute it to the people who live in the area and the fact that it is the only one we have (Hunt Valley, MD). Perhaps I should give it another try. I did want to see the charcuterie but didn't get a chance!

Thanks.

PS: You have several Wegmans in Easton, PA? I love that area. Maybe I should visit the stores up there!

I would have to nominate

my local telephone service provider, First Communications, of Akron, Ohio.

After years of Ohio Bell-Ameritech-SBC now AT&T service, I got an offer from them for the same service I had for $10/month less than I was paying. This was their standard rate, not a "promotional-get you to switch" rate. This was about 2-1/2 years ago. I did everything over the internet and my service was switched without a hiccup.

So far, have only had to call Customer Service 1 time. About 6 months ago my line went completely dead on a Saturday morning. Later that afternoon, I called their 800# from a local pay phone expecting the worst, the dreaded computer run around. To my complete surprise, a real live person answered my call. I explained the problem, she put me on hold to check the line and came back to tell me that ,yes, it seemed to be dead and she would transfer me to Repair. I thank her and take a deep breath thinking, "I'm doomed, this will take forever to fix."
To my complete surprise, another real live person came on the line to handle the problem. He explains that it may take 2-3 days to fix and schedules the repair. I thank him and head for home. Oh well, at least no telemarketers for a while.

Sunday afternoon the phone is ringing. It's First Comm's repair department letting me know that they found the problem and confirming that I'm back in service. Again, another real live person. The problem was SBC. They were working to replace some outdated equipment in my apartment complex and had accidentally cut a wire that went unnoticed. I thank him for their prompt service and more importantly for not being a nameless, faceless, uncaring computer generated response. Very rare these days!

The weekly offers from AT&T to "return to the fold" go right into the shredder.

Direct TV

At both this house and my parents I have never had them not show up, take care of business/installation FAST, Usually younger guys electronic savvy, and CAN demonstrate features, explain how to use even their DVR, tivo or whatever it is. Move any furniture back and even clean up the mess from drilling holes. Sure do not want to jinx myself, but they do take care of business.

Target is ok, but they usualy give me an issue when i return something.. Lowes Foods is another good store. Also i find Belks here to be quite wonderful stores...
