I was proactively looking at items that might be impacted by a tariff. Came across this tiny washer dryer combo. Tempted to buy one to use in the summer for gym clothes or swim shorts.

Micro combo washer dryer

This would've been the ultimate toy when we were kids, but it's not the least bit serious in any respect it would probably take three or four hours to just do three or four wash cloths, and the amount of energy used is ridiculous for the amount of laundry done.

I'll wait for one to show up in a thrift store for $19.95 thats about the right price for this.

I'd be highly suspicious that this machine doesn't spin at all. It would be difficult to design such a small machine with suspension and make it sit stable on the counter during a spin, so I doubt it spins. The Nova Sirocco Mini Wash sold here many years ago was like that - just a tumble washer that also had a heater so it could tumble dry clothes. With those you would manually stop and squeeze water from the washing before starting the dry phase.

It really is a ridiculous idea.

Say what you will, there is a market for this concept and I like it. I've long fantasized about a mini model exactly like this as well as a medium and full size version. While it takes more time and energy this stratagem produces an extremely economical, light weight, space saving washer that anyone can buy. Unlike twin tubs and separate dryers it is fully automatic- load, set and walk away.

You guys make all excellent points, I'm going to put it in my cart to see if the price goes down, I agree it's basically a toy, if the price point was closer to 100.00I wouldn't hesitate. It's covered by Amazon 30-day return policy so I can send it back.

I'm Trying not to use so many paper towels in the kitchen and rely upon flower sack towels and micro fiber rags for cleaning /wiping etc. They get grungy real quick and accumulate quickly. Think a solution might be to install this under the sink.

Under The Sink

From my understanding the unit exhausts directly out the back. Under a cabinet would cause the unit to overheat and/or cause moisture condescension to the inside walls of the cabinet. These units are best out in the open.

IMO spinless combos (and none condensing dryers in general) are best vented outside due the immense amount of moisture and heat generated. And while I don't know where the heating element is located I'd imagine if located directly under the clothes or where it gets wet there might be odor from the detergent residue or minerals in the water.

"You would SAVE energy by using a regular front loader to wash your dirty wash cloths, and drying them outdoors on a line, indoors on a rack, or drying them with your other washing in a dryer"

Naw I live better electrically Betty Furness is my patron saint !

Mini combo for washing kitchen cloths, etc.

It couldn't possibly clean very well for washing things like kitchen, claws, and you want things like that really clean I suppose if you dump enough bleach in it, it might at least sanitize them.

The toughest load of laundry I wash every month are the wash cloths from the kitchen, cleanup, cloths , dirty, white socks, and other things that have been used for cleaning, and they go in the calypso with a cup of bleach and a very vigorous wash and hot water with multiple rinsing. There is no way a machine the size could physically wash something as dirty as my white work socks and get them clean and rinsed, fast spinning is also necessary to remove dirt and rinse things properly.

As I said before, it would be a fun little machine I'd love to play with one, but I certainly wouldn't wash anything dirty in and expect them to be clean.

I think we all know what will destroy our soul and what will not, thank you very much.
And a soul isn't much worth with a planet hostile to them.

Let's say several tons means 10 metric tons.
That's about equivalent to 20000kWh. Or how much an average human breaths out over 27.4 years - that's just about my entire lifetime.

I know you were using figures of speech, don't worry.

But stop putting down peoples opinions and concerns just because you don't share them.

“But stop putting down peoples opinions and concerns just because you don’t share them”

Funny you say that. I simply come on here just to catch up what’s going on, a escapement of sorts from what’s going on in the present, but for whatever reason, there’s a few people on here, more than a few I might add, who can’t stop beraging the site with off topic things like politics etc.

In a way, I get put down when people can’t stop bringing in politics and energy into every discussion imaginable, it will make people loose their sanity, me and others included.
