I have a couple of Maytag Wringers and I was wondering if somebody could look up the year of manufacture for me.

One is an NX Bluebell 91857 DD. Turquoise details, no safety clutch (that I know of..) The previous owner replaced the no-post impeller with a black poly agitator. (grrr.)

The other is an E2LP 141472W. Red details, red Bakelite agitator.

Thanks!

The NX - February of 1967. Uber rare to find a post-1966 (turquoise) Blue Bell in the window between the transition to turquoise and the addition of the safety clutch in the later 1960s.

The E2L is sometime between c. 1950 and the end of 1953. I don't have the proper chart to translate to exact year and month of pre-1954 wringers. All I know is that the red bakelite agitator was introduced around 1950 (replacing the earlier cast aluminum one) and that in January of 1954 the serial numbering system changed to a 5 digit NUMBER preceded AND succeeded by a LETTER.

BOTH machines, IMHO, would be considered highly collectable to those of us who are interested in post-WWII Maytag wringers.

Thanks for the help

@ danemodsandy: Funniest think I've read this week, thanks.

@ Kenmore71: thanks for the help on that. The odd thing about that Bluebell is it was close and cheap. I'm so used to seeing eBay duds with $400 pricetags, this one was just too good to be true. If only it came with its no-post agitator...
