Polyester is far stronger than cotton and cotton blended with polyester is far more durable than cotton alone, something the manufacturers of clothing don't want you to know. Fabric strength and associated resistance to abrasions and fraying is one reason why uniform slacks are still a cotton-poly blend. Easy maintenance is another. After years of having Dockers fray at creases in one season, I have sought out cotton-poly blend slacks which last far longer; same for shirts. Cotton-poly blend shirts not only retain their permanent press qualities until they are past "yard work" status, but they also resist fraying at the cuffs and creases.
Our mother the home economist taught us that when shopping for clothing we had to consider the lifetime cost which included maintenance. If something has to be dry cleaned or ironed after each washing, it's going to cost either money or time.
Borax in the wash water eliminated the stinky perspiration smell from polyester because the residual boron prevented microbial growth.

A lot of uniforms in the airline industry have a high polyester count. They are usually a 65/35 poly blend.
As others have said, they are nearly impossible on hot humid days. I exchanged my regulation white shirt for a 100% cotton shirt that looks the same. Flight Attendants have even more polyester in their uniforms cause' it makes them easier to wash in the hotel bathtub if they get dirty or take a food spill from someone during working hours.
What gets me about those Westinghouse uniforms is how cheap they are! We have to buy our own uniforms from our company and they are pretty expensive! I could imagine working on somebody's dryer in a small space in an un airconditioned house on a hot day. They would probably have to wring their underwear out when they left the service call from all the sweat!

Different type of modeling
Cristiano Ronaldo is obviously the high-fashion type model, as he's definately much above average in looks. Whether someone finds him attractive or not, is just personal preference. For advertising such as the uniforms above, the client looks for models that look the part, just as Sears and Penneys models - while attractive - are inteded to portray the more average person, who will be buying their products.

No, most of my friends don't look that good, as they tend to be more about my age (54), but I do have a couple who actually excede any of those 3 guys in the looks dept.
I see men at least that good looking nearly every day, whether in a restaurant, the gym, or a store. Both the ER Doctor (hot blonde) and one of the nurses (dark haired hunk) at the hospital far exceded any of the guys pictured in the uniform ad. Also had school teachers that would have given any of them a run for their money.
Also have seen plenty of pics of guys that are here on AW who are much better looking than any of the 3. I unfortunately don't fit into that catagory myself, though I don't consider myself a troll. You should be seeing lots of hot Iowa farmboys now that you're out there.
