Did a google search on Downy and found many newspaper articles about P&G now pitching Downy as a sleeping aid.  Seems they say that folks look forward to sleeping on their comfortable sheets after being rinsed in Downy with 7 day freshness.

What do you think about this?

OK, Prince of Doom and Gloom Here.

I would be nervous about sleeping with all those "Extended Chemicals".

Breathing it and absorbing it through my skin. If It gunks up your machines, imagine what it does to your sinus and skin.

Sorry Guys and Gals. Just my thoughts.

When I do Laundry, I for the most part use Maximum Water Level and fill the machine 3/4 of the way with clothes just so they get that Good Rinsing. If I check and the water is Murky on the Last Rinse, I will Rinse them Again.

What about detergents with added fragrance (like there isn't enough of them out there on the market). Will they have the same effect on you as the softeners?

Anything to push product and to appeal to the female........

Funny because that crap stinks to me.

Sad that people get (feeling) of "love" from artifical smells. REALLY?
sadder that people fall for that nonsense...use this product and get xyz feeling.

And WHY do those things (heavy softeners) stink to men and appeal to women? (LOL keep it clean people)!

Hi Bill, Hi Steve

I don't know for the life of me what attracts some people to "fragrances".

Your home really must be filthy or have a sewage or mold problem if you have to have a Glade Plug in or constantly spraying Febreeze or the sort. It's the same as cologne or perfume. If you shower and wear clean clothes everyday, I can't understand how some people have to marinate in fragrance. To me sexually it's a huge turn off. I have made servers in the restaurant go home and shower if I can smell them in the kitchen walking accross the parking lot upon arrival at the back door. To me there is nothing more unattractive than sitting down for a meal only to be knocked over with the overwhelming scent of cologne.
I use Persil Universal Powder. It's fragrance is very mild, rinses extremely well, and by the time the laundry comes out of the dryer, there is barely a scent left. But to have a dose of heavy fragrance in the detergent, then fabric softner, and then top it all off with a dryer sheet, Oy Vey. What's left to smelling clean ?
Then one must look at the residual damage the softner does to the washer and what the dryer sheet does to the lint screen. And someone wants all this on their skin ??? All I have to say is YUCK !!!

Now Today...

Today was laundry day. I used All Oxy and a "dash" of All Free and Clear (powder)and ZERO softener of any type. My laundry has a VERY VERY VERY faint scent to it, but nothing overpowering. It smells more clean than anything else.

CORRECTION! I did use about a quarter capful of Downy to try and cut the suds (way too many)in the washer that was washing a kitchen mat, bathroom mat and front door mat. Unfortunately, it didn't work.

Unfortunately in my current profession I usually run across at least one individual in the shop or site who doesn't know how to bathe himself or his clothing or both. In most cases it's fairly repulsive but could be masked by a quality fragrance. In some cases, however, there was no amount of cologne that would mask the rancid stench. The worst is when the person in question is in denial about their lack of personal hygiene and they refuse to do anything about it.

One fellow I used to work with had a fairly weak stomach for off odors. His solution was to douse his clothing in some strong scented Mexican fabric softener, I guess so it would mask the scent of others in the shop. I found that to be repulsive, but not quite so much as the aroma of someone who simply doesn't know how to bathe properly.

I took a sniff of this "New" Downy, OMG, that stuff stinks!

I agree, some people over do it, and I can't stand it. I no longer use fabric softener, and the Norwex I use has no scent, so the clothes come out smelling clean. not scented stuff.

I did buy a bottle of HE liquid Tide while I was waiting to get more Norwex, holy cow, did that stuff smell, and carried onto end of the dryer!

I got rid of that Tide fast!

Only scent I enjoy is the bed sheets hung on the clothes line!

One time we used some of the Sauvetel 3x fabric softener on our sheets. Only about 1oz in the first rinse.

When we put the sheets on the bed we had to wake up in the middle of the night to change the sheets. We both had burning noses and eyes. It was terrible!

If you do use Sauvetel, when you dry your sheets your entire neighborhood will know that you used it! The dryer exhaust will spread the scent around!

Does it mix with vodka?

"Downy Ice Blue 'Good nite' nightcap"

2 parts downey (your choice of scent)

3 parts Iced Polish Vodka

Pour the Vodka over crushed Ice.... throw the Downey down the drain and drink the vodka.

You will sleep like a baby - And the dreams you will have!!!
