Hi Guys,

I just wrote to Protor & Gamble and complained again about April Fresh Downy and that need to bring back the original sent. Over the week end my father in law asked me if I want this bottle of Downy he has not used. It turned out to be the original April Fresh scent 200 load bottle. He used some but I know I should have enough for the next few weeks. Yesterday I loved how the clothes smelled and also how the house smelled fron the clothes that I had hanging to dry. I have not found another fabric softner that I liked. Maybe if we get enough people to write they may bring back the orignal scent.

I'm on the band wagon for this one! I found two bottles at an estate sale recently, and lawdy lawdy! the difference is night and day. Better cleaning, fresh scent, the works. Why do they mess around with the good stuff? Do you suppose it's cheaper to manufacture?

I agree with you David. Tide Ultra HE with a touch of Downy Liquid, has the original scent of Downy, to me. Why would P&G have the original scent of Downy in Tide and not in the April fresh Downy?

Whisk smells like poison! Same for new Downy, and can you remember how good Tide used to smell!

what you've got is a standard answer that every customer complaining about the product gets. Just look at the Downy website on page 5 of the reviews for Downy April fresh. A member from the Service team (not Asela who wrote to you) replied with exact the same words.

It seems that the "Downy team" is just a bunch of guys that put together some pre-written phrases. Same as everywhere...

My letter was slightly different. Downy explained that they base their scents on what customers demand. And they are providing what their customer research tells them is what the customers want.

Give me 1964 original scent, please.

What I can't understand is why the industry as a whole can't do better with making "classic" scents--or something as close as possible. Yes, it would increase the number of products being made--but there already seems to have been an insane number of variations released with more to come. If P&G can come up with five billion versions of Tide, certainly they could come up with a "Downy Classic."

whirlcool, if they really would do what the consumer wants, they should have changed the formula back to the original one quite fast. You can read tons of bad reviews but nothing happens. Honestly, I think they can't change it back for what reasons ever. May it be that the costs that would be too high oder that they would admit that they made a mistake and don't want to do that or they have changed the production lines and can't change it again to the old "version".

I too just messaged them about it, we shall see what they say. I said that I'd like to picture being at the laundry mat with my mom back when I was 5 yrs old, this new stuff doesn't do it.
If I get the standard reply back then it's proof they could care less what their loyal costumers would want.

smells a lot like the original Downey April Fresh Scent that we all grew up with. Give it a try folks, and let me know what you think.

An alternative if you can get it.

Would be Clearly Soft by Ecolab(while they only deal with industrial laundry they seem to be the only ones who care about customer service these days). It has a phenominal scent and won't waterproof your towels. I have gotten samples before and was very impressed. However unless you or someone you know work in a business that uses Ecolab it will be hard to come by. If anyone else here has used it please chime in.

Ecolab Is Not For Sale Via It's Distribution System To D

Under most normal conditions. Indeed if the odd home user does get his or her hands on commercial Ecolab products don't bother calling their customer service for anything. You will be directed to your distributor or local sales person, period. Suppose if they heard someone screaming in the background in agony from an "accident" they might help...

Normally distributors like the one from the above link require accounts to be set up and that means having a resale license and or tax payer ID number. More still there could be are large minimum orders for delivery.
