Next day tackling with great gusto the English Electric door boot challenge..
Cutting the rigid plastic ring to fit, cutting back Bendix door seal to fit the EE inner tub, cutting the Servis gasket to fit the front panel and door seal, placing rigid plastic ring through front weight and front tub panel, sealing and securing door boots to inner ring and finally fitting front tub panel metal outer clamp ring !!

I remember as a kiddie, my Gran's "Rapide" was stored away under the counter. I twisted the left dial - and was immediately frightened to death when it started ticking!

Working Weekends

It is always great to welcome fellow collectors who have now become good and valued friends for a weekend, and even better that they are prepared to roll their sleeves up and help progress so many machines back to full working order.

In some cases

it only takes a small repair to get things up and running again.

A case in point was the Zanussi manufactured AEG where a tiny piece of plastic in the door catch assembly shattering - no surprise after 35 years - to render the machine inoperable as the door could not be closed. In a wonderful example of co-operation Mike (Mikeymatic) who, sadly could not join us this weekend, came across a NIB door catch assembly, posted it to me and Richard and Steve (with a couple of words of advice from Mathew) soon had the machine back in full working order again.

Thankfully

There were no issues with the Miele washing machine I got a couple of months back which, when connected to services, sprang to life was soon washing away again, not that there was much to see apart from the time line

Not so good

Was the matching Miele dryer I got to match it, which although advertised as working, was not selecting the programme properly. I do have an older version, which we used at the weekend for the first time without any problems, so I will have to check back in the manual to see if I can get any hint as to the problem. Oh well, one project starts as another has ended - a familiar tale to many here I am sure .....

Superjet

Thanks goes to Richard for getting to grips with the Hoover Super-jet dishwasher that we got back in January for identifying a leak arising from a split hose. He got to work to (hopefully) seal the leak - the repair was left to "cure" so we could not actually test it straight away so incremental progress, but progress none the less. This is the only known example of this particular model, so again it is great to she it on the way to full working order.

EE Liberator

Who would have thought six months ago when the EE Liberator automatic arrived that it would EVER come near to working again. But Mathew's dogged determination and ingenuity brought about the miracle to see it not only running but actually washing again is just jaw dropping
