I did a bunch of washing the other night with only the tablets that Mike sent and Megapearl Dixan that Louis brought with him. I had a great time with the vintage machines and the wonderful new scents and formulas! Here are some pics of the dets and their respective uses but I forgot to take a pic of the sheets in the 59 Frigidaire with the ABC - much more suds in that load! All in all, everything came out great and smelling wonderful! Thanks again guys!

Fantastic Greg!

Those are great pictures!
I can almost smell the finished loads!
I wish that I would have spent more time with the Westinghouse Combo! It is the only one that I did not see a load done in! My fault!
I bet your sheets smelled wonderful.
When are you going to move the Westy Laundromat downstairs?
You have such great machines!
And of course, the winner with me is the Combo's that you have!
Do a load with the Maytag combo and let us know how it comes out with your overseas formulas!
Thanks for the great pictures!
Brent

Greg I can almost smell the scents in your laundry playroom using all those neat detergents. You have to love the clear rinse water in the 58 Frigidaire. Thanks for sharing all the nice pictures. Terry

Dazzeling Whites!!!!

Hi Guys

Wish I was back there doing the wash!!!

I use the Daz for whites unless I need Ariel bio, Bold is the one I use most for coloureds....

Family came over last weekend and I just had to sort out the garage because they "wanted a peak"....not as brill as your basements yet but working on it.....I set up the Bendix Giromatic and the Servis twinny with Persil.....AAhhhhhhh

the smell pervades!!!!

Happy Washing

Mikey, so good to see you post. I don't think you had since the bombings and a couple had asked online about you. I"m greatly relieved. Whew!!

Bio and Non-Bio

Hi Robert,
Bio detergent containes enzymes to digest certain types of stains these include Lipase to digest starchy stains and Protease for protein and fat stain digestion, some people are sensitive to these enzymes so a Non-Bio detergent is enzyme free. A Non-Bio detergent should always be used for laundering Baby clothes and for people with sensitive skin.
In my honest opinion the best detergent in the UK is Ariel it is made by Proctor & Gamble and it was the first ever Bio detergent sold in the UK back in 1969 when the Twin Tub ruled supreme.
UK detergents with the exception of liquids also contain oxygen based bleaching agents and optical brightening agents to make whites and colored laundry look whiter and brighter. Optical brighteners are also present in most liquid detergents.

All the best.
Hugh

Robert;

Another variety sold here is Colour care detergent, which is suitable for coloureds and darks. To prevent a great amount of fading of coloureds and darks, Colour detergents still contain enzymes but don't contain bleach nor optical brighteners - besides these aren't needed on coloureds as you don't need them sparkling white :-)

Tex;

I've found that Daz and Ariel both produce Dazzling whites; however Daz has bluing agents which gives whites a slight tinge of blue. That said, Ariel bio is the best for cleaning out stains especially - Ariel bio is the only detergent that can get out grass stains on a normal 40*C wash without any need for pre-treatment. Other detergents require at least a pre-wash I've found, or one of these time-consuming 2 hour profile washes. Ariel can get it out on a quick wash :-). Persil I found doesn't seem to have the cleaning power of Ariel/Daz. That said on general laundry Persil is good, and it has a great smell, but if you want white whites then it's either Ariel or Daz - which one you use just depends whether or not you want snowy whites or icy whites!

Greg,

I noticed you only used one tab in your TLs!! Where I live in the UK you have to use at least 2 in a frontloader just for normally soiled laundry!

Jon

Hi Jon - do you have hard water where you live? We do here, but I have a water softener so the water in the house averages 0-1 grains. For most lightly soiled loads, towels, etc. I found one tab works just fine. The same is (was) true with the US tablet detergents. I used two Surf tabs in the Duomatic and the suds were a bit too high. I usually feel the water in the t/l'ers, if the water is silky smooth, the solution/ratio of detergent to water is good and don't add more detergent.
