Is everyone OK in the flood zone? I am concerned and, not having seen any postings, worry that some members might be displaced or without power. I grew up in the Atlanta suburbs and remember other floods, although none like this one. I saw pictures of the flooding behind Peachtree Battle Shopping Center so I figure ADAC was under water and AA on Peachtree Battle must have been hit also.

OK in Gwinnett

Most of us in Gwinnett County are doing well. As you know, Cobb takes most of the brunt of any bad weather coming out of the West. Yes, there are plenty of low lying areas that are under water. A few schools are submerged up to the roof. You really have to step back, take a moment, and be thankful for what you have when you see others around lose it all in a flash.

Tom, I think ADAC was okay...they had done some renovations several years ago and if memory serves the lower parking area was one of them. I do know that tumble weeds are rolling down the corridors there, business is WAY down.

The west side out towards Douglasville and Powder Springs was the worst although I heard East Cobb got whacked as well.

I can just imagine Peachtree Creek (river) at Northside!

I fired off an e-mail to Greg (oldhouseman) and he has replied. They are on high ground in Sparta and did OK, but with more rain expected, they are not out of the woods yet.

clarification

I apologize for some Atlanta Jewish Community shorthand I used in my original post and for any confusion it might have engendered. AA is the acronym used by many to refer to Ahavath Achim Synagogue and indeed, their website uses the acronym as well. No slight intended to any actual meeting place for the other AA that might have been affected by the flooding.

I hope the forecast rains for the Atlanta area and points North will not bring more damage. We are forecast to receive one to two inches of rain tonight. As we all know, that means anything from no rain to rain of Biblical proportions.
