The yellow doesn't usually happen due to the type of heat but has everything to do with the water temperature and detergent types you use. All of us have dead body mites that are mostly built up in areas like our crotch and arm pits where our sweat glands are strongest. If you wash in cold water, the dead mites do not get washed out. They stay in the fabric and can cause yellowing in the crotch and armpits of items like t-shirts,dress shirts, shorts, briefs, bras and panties. If you wash them in hot or warm water, this discoloration keeps to a minimum. The yellowing can also be caused by over heating in a dryer. Gas or electric.I never have that problem at all and we have lpgas (propane) dryers made by Speed Queen. I use the perm/press or delicate dryer temps for everything but towels, sheets, bedspreads, blankets, quilts, rugs and 100% cotton fabrics. Those are dried at the highest setting. Most of my whites are washed in my Miele on the sanitize setting where the timer will not advance until the wash water reaches 200F.Then,it has a 15 minute wash and three deep rinses before the final 1600 rpm spin.I sometimes need sunglasses because the whites are so white they can blind you!All of my laundry customers have told their families and friends about how clean and bright I get their wash and I stay busy all week long.usually 15 to 20 loads/day. Monday-Friday 6AM-6PM.$3/wash,$3/dry,$5 fold and bag up.I also supply the detergent, bleach and softener so the right type(HE lo sudsing) of additives are used.We have commercial SQs and Wascomats but the washers are not hooked up because the state is rebuilding the sewer lines here and we can't hook the units up to drain until they're finished this project due to completion in '13. Roseanne Barr has her housekeeper drop laundry off to me two or three times a week. They give me a flat $250 a week.Last Tuesday,I spent all day doing wash for her guest house and there was a $500 bill in the back pocket of jeans that were among the laundry dropped off.I called Yvonne, the housekeeper to let her know I had it if somebody was missing it.It belonged to one of Roseanne's daughters who had put it there to make a bank deposit and assumed it fell out somewhere.Roseanne said that she never knew that "laundry folk" were that honest. I told her my karma would be way to heavy not worth the $500.She laughed and has a list of appliances she needs to order for another property she has purchased recently.I'll get together with her and her workers next Friday. we're planning on camping out in Kona where we'll have our boards all waxed up and ready to go.The weather has been unpredictable but rain has been heavy in the evenings instead of during the days. The drought has subsided and everything's green again.
