GE iron cords

I've seen a number of the vintage GE chrome and black steam irons as thrift stores. Some of them have a black woven cord and others have a blue plastic cord. Anyone know when they switched to the blue one? I saw one just the other day with the blue cord, but I didn't think to look for a date stamp on it. I'm thinking early or mid 70s era.

The irons look a lot like the current Black and Decker Classic models but I'm sure are way better quality. Surprisingly the GE actually seemed lighter than my new B&D though.

That was the last year General Electric put cloth cords on their steam irons. PATRICK COFFEY

I would be careful with woven cords.  They most likely have asbestos in them.
