Jimmy ... Those look like fun!! Especially the dryer with the foot pedal; I like that idea.

Have you had them in storage for the last year?

Hopefully, you'll find somebody who wants to give them a good home and use them!!

This is an awsome pair, Jimmy! Are all functions of the washer operable, with the exception of wash and speed choices? The machine is simply a single-speed washer at this point, I gather. Truly beautiful!!!

Wow, nice set! It's very similar to the GE washer I grew up with. Same agitator, filter-flow pan, fabric softener dispenser, mini-basket, and the timer dial is exactly the same. The controls on the left are different, and ours was brown. I used to grab that wire clothes guard and spin the tub when it was off.

I guess the Versatronic Clutch was a problem and thats why it was discontinued. Im told it was quite complicated with carbon brushes and at least one big solid state rectifier on the side of the clutch housing. Ive seen one or two many years ago, but never apart to view their mechanics.......

Wow, those are just too cool...that variable speed wash and spin would have been something else!! And is that a 3-high-vane Activator? Never seen one before.

Dont have to worry about "saving" them Westy, Im not going to throw them away or anything! I just dont have room for them and my other GE set has sentimental value to me as it was my Mom's set for many many years. Just thought I would let folks know they are avail if there is a GE admirer out there. These are a pretty rare set and definately worth saving........

I would love to see an exploded diagram of the Versatronic clutch. The GE two-speed clutch was a strange beast to begin with, but it sounds like nothing compared to the carbon brushed and silicon-rectified sci-fi Versatronic.

(Don't get me wrong...I've always been a fan of the Filter-Flo, and, Versatroic clutch or no, FilterFlo's set is definitely a keeper.)

The clutches probably failed due to people changing the agitation speed while the machine was agitating. You must admit it would be tempting with that variable speed agitation dial.

If you think the two speed clutch is a strange contraption, you should see the 3 speed clutch that GE made for a couple of years. Had 3 different shifters on the side of the motor and a series of plastic tabs on a trapezoidal style clutch housing! They are pretty rare to find now, and have not seen one in years.........but the three speed washer would be a wonderful find...........

I have "on loan" from GregM, his GE Washer, circa 1967 with the 4, count 'em, 4 speed clutch. I had never seen one in person, but would HATE to take it apart. It has 4 agitation speeds and 2 spin speeds.....fascinating!!! I can post pics, if anyone is interested. The 2 shifter assemblies that mount to the motor's base are sorta worn down, so they don't contact the shifting mechanism mounted to the outer clutch drum. Sure wish i could find them, as it only runs at high speed now!
