We are just thankful and will be enjoying the peace and quiet which comes when everyone else leaves the city! Never did nor can see the purpose of traveling hours to the Hamptons or beach to see the exact same people who live in one's street.

Me? I'm going to a block party supper of fried chicken and potato salad, then play the baritone in an evening community band concert, followed by a fireworks show shot over the lake which surrounds the park and band shell on three sides; a quintessential small-town Independence Day.

Nothing here...

It will be another boring, SOS, mundane weekend. I got laid off from my job last week, so money is EXTREMELY TIGHT! However, I may venture out to the mall on Saturday just to get out of the apartment for a bit...although Lord knows there's PLENTY of things I can do in here to keep me busy and out of trouble.

I don't know how it is in different parts of the country, but I was actually SHOCKED to see that gas has come DOWN a few cents (was 2.27, now 2.24-2.25). Generally, it goes up during the holiday. Go figure.

My Day will be spent at an early afternoon barbeque before going to spend my evening being stuck at work in the ED X-Ray department to deal with the intoxicated fools who get hurt with fireworks, and all of the extreme elderly whose familys dump them off to be free of them for the holiday weekend

My Aunt from Germany is visiting for 2 weeks, having a BBQ today, with some German dishes, happy 4th all!

I'm taking it easy. Might go fishing later when it cools off a little. I'll do most of my grilling tomorrow but I'm cooking chicken in basil cream sauce today (one of those 30 minute meals that is actually good enough to serve to company).
