Tom, I've had noodle kugel with the crushed corn flakes before and thought it was very good.

I do grate the potato for my savory kugel and place a few small sprigs of fresh Rosemary across the top just to infuse the whole dish as it bakes.

Lekakh made with tea sounds good----I think its just the caffene that counts---- so one does not become comatose from all the carbs!

I think we should head on over to Toggle's place for a bowl of hot hun zup mit k'naidlech!

...and to all....

I was making the matzoh ball soup, but they were sooooooo light, they kept floating right out of the pot! And. after Ken (kennywhy) and I shamed the local Kroger, we can now actually GET the matzoh meal! And....when Gyrafoam gets here, we'll finally have a Kosher Roanoke! Shanah tova u'metucha. Mark

The key to light, fluffy matzoh balls, without resorting to making them with fizzy water, is to make the batter good and moist, even adding a bit more water, letting it sit like they say to and then stopping the broth from bubbling before launching the kneidelach. Once they are all in, cover the pan and set the heat to low or simmer so that it takes 10 to 15 minutes to return to a very slow boil. If the water is too hot when the raw balls (OUCH!) are added, the protein in the raw dough will seize on the outside and not let the inside suck up the broth and swell. I always make mine in a Corning Ware 4 or 5 quart Dutch oven, the type with the flat bottom, not like the one in the oven of the Partio cart, and by the time they are through poaching, they cover the entire surface. Tom

OOOh the Italian verison of the same affliction is Fundz-r-lo!
That is a nasty-bad disease. Communicable; and a shot of penicillin does not work. Rotsa Ruck. Seriously, best wishes and hopes for great success.

~Now if only someone would do something to improve the taste of Manischewitz kosher wine, yuck!
Te he he he I'd say after a few glasses, it starts to taste better!

I think we should head on over to Toggle's place for a bowl of hot hun zup mit k'naidlech!
Come on over! We have gas cookers, electric cookers, small-appliances and gadgets (with an "S", dear. *LOL*) up the ying-yang you name it!

Back door guests are best. Let me feed your hungry hole. Hospitality, it's what my ethnic does best! (ducks and runs).
