Hi! new to twin tubs - which is best model? Your thoughts...!!

Hi Paul, you are spot on with the model number on the Hotpoint Twin Six..it was a 1410, the cheaper version of the 1400 Supermatic. I collected the Twin 6 from London yesterday morning, in good condition, but needs a good clean up...may indulge in some "Limelite-ing" later !!

It is such a weird set up, a hose is plugged into the left-hand corner of the wash tub to empty the spinner and then another is inserted into the right hand corner of the wash tub to empty the tub..why not just have a hose come out the back for the spinner...bizzare !!

Have a look at the pic to see the machine..these machines were only made for 18mths..so glad to get one.

Pray tell, what was so special about Hotpoint's wash system that it did not tangle laundry a la Hoover and perhaps other twin tubs? Did it have an agitator?

Hi guys,
Thought I'd let you know. Have just bought a twin tub. Plumped for the T5090 Hoovermatic in the end, should be picking it up this week. Can't wait to give it a try. Btw whats the best soap powder to use in your opinions? Not many of the old type phosphate based high suds powders around now. Soap flakes with/without washing soda I'd heard elsewhere are supposed to work quite well...?

Instruction Manual

Sorry to ask but does anyone have an instruction manual for the T5090 that they wouldn't mind emailing me? Or know if they're available to view online anywhere?
Don't think the one I've bought will come with one

Hiya Pete.
Great purchase - the last of a great line. One thing I noticed about the T5090 was just how light it was compared with its predecessors.
Had to move a number of machines, wehen I was helping a very good mate sort his storage container out. Moving loads of frontloaders and some vintage twinnies and single tubs. Knackering work. Then we came to move the T5090 - felt so light as to be able to be able to swing it around your head. not really, but you know what I mean.

Saw a T5090 for sale on a recent trip back to my parents - the shop wanted £80.00 (thats right aint it Rob?). Looked in good nick, but we are strapped for space at the moment, so we left it.

Cant help with the instruction manual. weirdly, this is one of the few T50XX twinny models that i have never seen an instruction manual for (that I can remember anyway). I am sure there will be one out there somewhere.

Have fun with your new purcahse and be sure to show it off, with a thread.

Hey Pete, hope you're getting on well with your HMDL, have you had the chance to use it properly yet? The only issues I have with Hoover machines is the inability to heat and spin at the same time, and their sensitivity to being overloaded. By the way Mike, my way of loading washing now involves 'measuring' loads in the spin can first, so I don't have to fish items out to get a turnover going...

I used to use Fairy Snow in mine, but it seems to have been discontinued, so stick to either Persil TT or store brands, as bio powders and I don't get on well! Soap flakes need thorough rinsing out in hot water, else they come out feeling greasy, trust me!!!

Keith - congratulations on the Twin Six - does it have a wash timer? Can't wait for pictures.
