Your red velvet cake recipe is nearly identical to mine. The only difference is I use mostly all organic ingredients.

=)

This cake is just wonderful and once you make the cooked frosting you will be hooked. I have never tried the Wondra flour in mine but sure will when I make it again. My recipe calls for 1 cup of butter. The more you beat this frosting the better it is.

I had never even heard of red velvet cake until it was served at my mom's nursing home, and interestingly enough, it was on the menu again just yesterday. Even in an institutional form, I took a taste and was impressed. Thanks for the recipe Tim. I am going to try this one. Seems like a good choice for Valentines day in my heart-shaped pan. Would I have to change anything (besides baking time maybe) if I were to make cupcakes instead?

I love Red Velvet cake. There's just one eeeentsy little problem with it. Last time I made one it was before I had a dishwasher and by the time I finished washing the bowls and beaters and stuff, my sink looked like a mass murderer had just washed up!

Our own Steve(Gryofoam) posted a wonderful recipe for a Red Velvet Pound Cake a few years back. I have made this a few times and it is wonderful.

Bob, how do you bake those fabulous cakes and maintain your lovely figure? You'd have to take the door off the hinges to squeeze my ass thru!!

recipes and secrets

Well, I discovered the banana butter pecan one by accident and here's how I did it.

Start with a butter pecan cake mix but leave out 1/4 cup of water. Replace that with 2 ripe bananas.

Mash the 2 bananas in the mixer then add the eggs water & oil and blend well, then add cake mix 1 minute on low scraping bowl well and then 2 minutes on medium high also scraping bowl.

Add 1 cup chopped pecans either into batter or on top after pouring into prepared bundt pan. Bake 50 minutes at 325 degrees. Cool 10 minutes then remove pan. Cool 1 hour then add strawberry glaze (found on the fruit counter by the strawberries) and pipe on the betty crocker cream cheese icing.

The Caramal banana butter one is the same only start with a butter cake and put home made caramel glaze on top which is 1 stick of butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 T milk and 1 t vanilla in a sauce pan brought to boil stirring constantly and cooked one minute then cooled and drizzled on cake.

How I stay so thin...I'm a dancin' fool and I get to the gym real regularly. Plus I've been doing yoga over 4 years now and I think that helps too. Also protease inhbitors are a bitch~.

God Bless my Maytag Dutch Oven.
