Further issues...
Aside from the one mentioned above, there is also the slight problem that the indicator lights appear to be wired up wrong, so they light up that the machine is washing, rinsing and heating simultaneously when it's actually on final spin, for example! The lights are not flush with the fascia either, so I can only assume that they have been off the machine at some point and put back wrong. Does anyone know how to get the fascia off and/or have a copy of the wiring diagram so that I know how it should be installed?
Probably the main issue at the moment is that the water level on wash seems far too low, no water is visible in the drum at all on low level wash, and to fill the machine to the same low level as my grandad's Ecologic (just above the rim of the drum) takes between 3 and 6 full kettles of water depending on the size and absorbency of the load! This is after the machine has filled and topped up itself. If left to it's own devices the load isn't always fully saturated by the time it finishes heating and it sometimes continues to top up after temperature has been reached! I am assuming this is either a problem with the pressure switch or the pressure pot, but not really sure how to resolve it. The rinse water levels are the usual 1/3-1/2 up the door.
The drum is not twisted, and the suspension is very smooth, however there is very little space at the back of the drum, and the drum only has to move about an inch or 2 directly back before it bangs into the back panel. Is this normal on these machines? If not how would it be rectified?
Finally when we got the machine home it needed a new belt, as the old one was frayed, this has made the machine sound much smoother and tumble much faster, but occasionally there is still an intermittent scraping/grinding noise from the motor. The seems to be plenty of length left on the brushes and the armature looks in fine order. The tub bearings are fine and the motor bearings turn smoothly yet there is still this intermittent motor noise. It has become less and less frequent with use but it is still there every now and then. Any ideas what could be causing this?
So that's where we are at the moment, as you can see we really need a lot more experience in these things before we can sort the machines out ourselves. This one does still run through a programme just fine, albeit with a little help in the way of extra water being added to the wash, but we would really like to get in in the best condition possible, since we want to continue using it as a daily driver.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer in advance!
