Thanks Neptunebob... The biggest factor would be cost at this point.. I hate to say he acts like a hobo at times... SO he is afraid of dr's and money... He has money, but he is stingy at times.. OH well.. I can deal with that.... He's very sweet otherwise..
They did 4 sleep studys after the 1st on me and could never get the unit right... I don't snore and after all was said and done i sleep very well... If i take my rls meds

Most effective way

I left my partner. No more snoring problem LOL. Actually I suffer from Sleep Apnea and if not treated it can be very harmful over time. I have a bipap machine and sleep very well. It is something your partner/spouse has to get used to but I know couples that no longer sleep together over the machine.

I to have a cpap...

I am a large man and I do have sleep apnea. I was diagnosed with this several years ago, when I could not stay awake in the middle of the afternoon. I do have my cpap machine and sleep with it, and do not have problems now. Yes I have had my heart attack already October 31,2003. Since then I have been doing ok. I have recently met a wonderful, caring, loving man who likes bigger/bears/chubs. He says I do not snore and nore does the machine bother him when we sleep. I have many of my friends in the bigger/chub world who use cpaps machines.

David, a little belated happy birthday for ya, 3 days late.

I've heard it be said that on bear campouts, you'll go by tents and hear snoring and others you won't--thus cpap machines. It is a fine line for those of us who like beefy, burly men (and are one too) regarding sleep issues. The first person who ever spent the night had a cpap machine--he was a little emabarssed about it, but I had no probs with it. In fact I felt like I was sleeping with the Lone Ranger and the noise eventually lulled me to sleep.

Me too

I'm a large man and have sleep apnea. It was diagnosed in 01. I wouldn't go anywhere without my cpap machine. I even use it if I'm just taking a little nap in the afternoon. It's been a long time since anyone spent the night with me, so I don't know if the machine bothers anyone or not.

There is a strong correlation between heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and sleep apnea. Since I've been a very bad boy for most of my life, I have all of those. However, my sleep apnea is taken care of, blood pressure and diabetes are taken care of by oral medicine, had a bypass in 2000. So, I'm doing pretty well--I'm just FAT.

Awh..bless you and thank you..

Thank you appnut for that since the vac web site is down and our presidant there and I have the same day. I believe he and others were having a good time at their party, "the birthday bash."

Hey Courtney, you are so right about the correlation between all of our illnesses. I do have all the ones you mentioned and yes they are controlled with meds.

I was rather shy about my weight until I came out (yes, out of that dam closet) and went to my first chubby/bear convention. I learned that there were men who actually liked people like us, and actually found us extremly sexy. After going to some of these events it put a whole new light on in my life realizing that I am attractive person, for the first time in my life.

I used to go camping with Girth and Mirth of the Rockies and yes we would find campsites with electricity for those of us with cpaps.

This is a great site, thank you, I feel at home here with you all. I thank Compact9 (a fellow collector here in Denver) who convinced me to check out this site.

You just get used to it

Mine snores a little and only occasionally. I think you just get used to it after a while. I miss it when it's not there. When it gets bad he is usually on his back and I nudge him a few times to roll to his side and then it usually stops. Maybe it's me waking him up that stops it LOL! I really don't know but it seems to do the trick.

bipap, cpap....others

These are machines that people use to help breath at night while sleeping. This is a sleeping disorder on most people who are large or have a huge snoring problem. The machine can blow moist air into a mask that is elastically held over your head and nose while this happens it allows the person not to stop breathing through the night and that person when they get used to the machine, will get a restful nights sleep.

When you have heard someone snore and as they snore have that moment of not breathing and then they have that huge gasp of air that they take. That is usually a sign of sleeping disorder called sleep apnea. When this happens, when a person stops breathing the body has to work extra hard to not stop at all so it takes that huge gasp of air. Some of our parents had it as well, not realizing what they had.

This results in being very tired the next day like in the middle of the afternoon when you can not and I mean can not stay awake. It was mentioned in an earlier thread how you find out how this is tested.

I am sure othere here can explain this better, and please help if I have confused some of you.

Stifle yourself there would ya there Edith, ha? ....

How have you alleviated your partners snoring....

In a past incarnation it was simply a matter of saying "snoring" the offender would then turn over and stop.

I learned that being on my back was a major contributing factor. (uh, no not to my income.... *LOL*)

LOL

I think the trick is not to hijack a thread too early on. *LOL*

and I'm not kidding we really just did say *snoring* in a loud enough "whispher". Oddly the other would usually not remember the event.

The feed-back helped each eventually learn their "weakness" and vulnerability.

An elbow in the ribs used to do it for me...lol. Now he says it doesn't bother him anymore from Boston....lol
