kds 18 not advancing

My poor kds 18 is not working right. When i start it the pump just runs no light cancel does nothing pump just keeps running. The only change is if a run the sani cycle it just keeps filling. So you guys think i need a new timer?
Can you get new ones anymore?

How is the drain pump know when to shut off or is it just a timed sequence

its all through the timer that model doesnt have a drain pump but rather a drain silenoid

So i watched the timer with the unit on. No motors were turning at all. Took the timer out test both motors and they both work. Any ideas on why no power is being sent to the timer motors.

I would pull the machine out and check the connections.

Years ago when coldspot66 gave me my first KDS 18, I hooked it up and the motor would run, but no lights, timer advance or fill. Turns out there was one wire I think it was on the wash heating element that had fallen off during the transportation. Hooked back up and it was fine.

So, just saying, make sure everything is connected and go from there.

Hi Eric, try testing for timer motor movement with the timer plugged into the DWs wiring harness, even if the motors run it is possible that the gear train within the timer is bad and you may still need a new timer.

If the timer motors will not run when they are connected to the machines harness then it could be any number of possibilities as Eddie suggested. It could still be an electrical connection within the timer, or a bad selector Sw, broken wires where the wiring flexes in the door hinge area. The easiest thing is trying a good substitute timer at this point. Good Luck
