Just luck I guess.I got a phone call from a co-worker who I had sold a Frigidaire tumbler set to about a year ago.They put their condo on the market and were offered $45,000 more than the asking price with the stipulation that the stacked washer dryer stay there.They went and bought the KitchenAid and found out after the sale that they were too deep for their laundry closet.I had a GE Profile set I got at a competetor's store free because some imbisile dropped them off the truck.Other than a few pin size dings,they worked great and I had the pedistals already.Liz begged me to find her another set like the ones she had and her offer was to let me swap.I told her my GE's were almost exactly like the Frigidaires she left behind except they were on pedistals,not stacked,and I had put both of them on a 4 year protection plan with GE.We swapped them out yesterday and I am so impressed with the KAs and there excelent performance.I do need Whirlpool to come out and find the dryer problem.Somehow,trhe dryer drum is scraping against the right side of the inner frame.If you put your hand against the right side of the dryer when you hear the noise,it gets louder and you can feel the scraping on the inside wall.Otherwise,I love them!!!!! WOHOO!!!!!

I cancelled my apointment with Whirlpool.I noticed the right side of the dryer was indented and the drum was scraping agaainst it.I got a small piece of wood and a hammer and knocked it out.I think it may have accored from moving using the dolly and possibly pulling the strap too tight.

Incredible deal, keep us posted on the KA's performance. I have the WP Duets and use them constantly, very good machines.

Well,so far I have done abot 10 loads of laundry from bed linnens to stuffed teddy bears.Not only do these machines work well,but they are full of surprising features I wasn't aware of.
When it washes,it uses just enough water to saturate the clothes not drowned them.When it spins,it is so sensitive to the ballance of the load(much more so than the FriGEMores)that once it speeds up,there is NO vibration at all.When it rinses,the spin speed slows down while the rinse water bathes the wash load evenly for about a minute.then it slows down to a tumble and proceeds for 3 minutes.The final rinse saturates the clothes in a deep pool of water and mixes the fabric softner automaticaly during the fill.The final spin goes through a precise ballancing procedure then speeds up to as much as 1200 rpms!!!It sounds a lot like the old Bendix or Kenmore combos during their spin.Once it is finished,it beeps to let you know the clothes are done.The get very clean and smell great!!!Fun to watch and huge in capacity.

The dryer too is awsum.I overrode the interior drum light to the timer so that it automaticaly comes on and shuts off during the cycle selected.I always use the automatic cycles not the timed.The dryer is always done before the next wash load is ready to dry.The clothes are completely wrinkle free as well as fresh smelling.So many cycles to choose from and a count down of approximate time remaining in the cycle.Once dry,the clothes are put into a "press care"program where, if not imediately removed,the dryer will continue to randomly tumble in cool air for a few seconds and chime to remind you they are ready to unload.Great results I love these machines and recomend them to anyone here who is into new products.By the way,I will be attending the KBIS (Kitchen and Bath Industrial Show)in Las Vegas from May 10th to May 13th.I will try to sneak a camera in to take some pictures.There will be so many new products unvailed there this year.I will be staying at the Frontier Hotel.Anyone interested in attending go to WWW.KBIS.COM and regester.the cost is $25 and be sure to make flight and hotel reservations asap.I went through Orbits.com and got two round trip tickets and the hotel room for 2 for only $804!!!!Anybody who decides to go,I look forward to seeing you there!!

The Ensembles are gorgeous, aren't they? Congratulations! I'm torn between trying the new Frigidaire FL'ers and getting an Ensemble or Duet pair. Of course, I have to save up some $$ first. And my current Frigidaire is working just fine.....

Frigidaire vs KitchenAid

The KAs have far more features and are far more quality built than the Frigilux's.Before they came out(the new 3.5 Frigilux's),I would not have said that because the origial models were very good but as far as the construction of the new ones is concerned,I see some serious issues that need to be addressed.First of all,the square door design is already proving to be faulty.I have been to 4 Best Buys and 6 Lowe's stores where either the doors were damaged during shipping or customers pushed down on them to make them hard to open and close.They are too big and too flimsy.They should have made them round or at least given them more reinforcement.The controls(not incuding the dials)are real cheap looking and can get dirt built up inbetween them.The dryer capacity is tiny and will barely fit the laundry load the washer takes.The KA has a huge 7 cu ft capacity and its senser is extremely precise.Granted,the prices are at least $1000 different but,I had the Kenmores,GEs and Frigidaire front loaders before I had these Ensembles and there IS a MAJOR difference in the construction,performance,design and quality.If there wasn't,KitchenAid would not give a full 2 year parts and labor warranty on thes models.

I've also had reservations about the small dryer drum size on the new Frigidaire. It's the same size as my current dryer, and it barely holds a full load from my 2.9 cu.ft. washer.

I've never had a Maytag washer, so I'm starting to be wooed by the new high-capacity Samsung-built Maytags...
