KitchenAid that wont fit

Hi everyone! I finally found myself a nice retro dishwasher on weels (kitchenAid year unknow)
It look's great BUT i've got one problem whit it... The pipe end won't fit on any tap.
Does anyone know if i can bye a adapter somewhere or if i have to change the whole end of the dishwasher pipe?

Waht do you mean by "the pipe"

Is this connected a standard screw-on rubber hose with a 3/4 hose-cock connector, or a "new-fangled" uni-coupler?

Let me see the kitchen faucet. I bet I know what's wrong, you don't have the proeprr aerator on the end of your faucet to connect into your coupler. It's like the "male" part of the equation. That's part of the parts which come with a new portable appliance like a dishwasher or washer.

ah a uni-coupler.

The needed adapter is avaialable at your local hardware store. Look for a quick-connect coupler for DW-ers.

IIRC there are three styles. One is way off from what you'll need and other other two have a long and a short aerator.

Also unscrew your present aerator to see if the threads are inside or outside the tip of the the water spout. Some adapters come with a second piece that allows you to use them with either inside or outside threads.

one of those is bound to fit!

If you look at the inside of the water inlet hose-coupler (top one) there is probably a little prong that is intended to hold up a metal "plate" within the bottom of the aerator(the part connected to the faucet). This allows the water out of the faucet quicker and un-aerated.

I have the exact same model dishwasher, and it also came without the faucet attachment.

However I was able to pick one up at a local Orchard Supply Hardware store for less than $10, as I recall. There are a couple of types, and as I recally you will want the larger type. You might want to take careful measurements of the female connector on the end of the hoses so that it matches up with the male connector you need to put on the faucet.

I have the same machine 1957 KD2-P. Those faucet adapters are available at Lowes or Homo Depot. They're like $3-4 a piece. I hope your drain valve doesn't leak. LOL

I like your drinking birds on the shelf.Is that a built in Kitchen Aid dishwasher in the bakground?Just wondering why you would want to wash your dishes in cold water?To get to the bottom rack of your dishwasher do you have to lift the top rack out or do parts of the rack flip back?

Nice Machine.

I have the Original Owner's Manual. The Bottom Rack is turned around. The Silverware basket should be in the back of the machine. But that's not important. You would only use a hot wash. The machine runs through a hot water purge to heat up the Cast Iron Parts for about 1 minute. I'll attach some pics of the top rack in the load position.

Cycles...

The machine is pretty quick. 1.5 Start Warm up "Purge",7 minute Wash,1 minute drain, 2 minute Rinse and one more 1 minute Rinse.Drying time is 24 minutes. It uses about 9 gallons of water total. 43 minutes Total Time for the Cycle. My scanner is not working but I'll post some pages of the Owner's Manual when it's up. The detergent dispensor holds 1 full Tablespoon of detergent. Just throw it in the bottom of the machine at the front. This will prevent it from getting flushed out near the fill port at the back of the machine.

Note the position of the strainers in the bottom of your machine. The coarse strainer should be in the back over the drain valve.

Yes they're fun. And yes, there is a KDS-18 as a built in. I now have 5 dishwashers. 4 are Portables and 1 Built in.

Your built in kitchen Aid is very sharp looking. Is it very old?
And what about the birds? Are they vintage too?
When I was little my neighbour had them. Just loved them. She used to make them drink beer.
Great memories for a 6 year old kid.

God Fobid, you should need a drain valve. Right, Toploader?
But if you do, I am sure we may still be able to get that last one that is hanging around the Hobart Parts Distribution center in Piqua, Ohio. I can probably assure you with nearly 100% accuracy that you won't get one from Whirlpool anymore!

Looks like your machine has broken hinges, same as mine was.

I made new hinges out of stainless steel.

Just wondering how well those dishwashers cleaned?
If there is only a spray arm in the bottom, didn't it just toss all the sediment up to the top and land on the cups and glasses?

Washing Ability

These machines wash extremely well, but you have to watch your racking as nothing in the bottom rack (such as a mixing bowl or pot) should block the spray to the top rack. On nights when I use the machine, I use as many plates to put my 'Preped" food that is to be cooked. And use the center section of the top rack for bowls and small pots etc.
The motor and pump in this machine pumps 45 gal of water per minute through that spray arm. I have not had any piece come out of that machine dirty or sketchy

If I were to sell you a replacement, I'd have to make them, as I only made enough to restore my machine. Right now that's a little difficult because I'm in the middle of changing jobs - I made the replacement set after hours on my own time in my old workplace. My home workshop isn't quite up to it as yet, but maybe in a while I'll be able to do some personal work after hours in my new workplace.

I have a KDS-14 that uses that big blue wash arm, and YES they clean excellent!!!! Just don't block the water flow to the top, and, use a good detergent (I have best results with Cascade), and you will rarely have a dish come out that is dirty. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!

It would seem's My translation wasn't the right one for the word ''hinge''
that piece is in good shape, the part wich needs be replace is tha plastic fram at the back of the hinge as you can see on the photo it is in preti bad shape i would need something to replace it so my dishwasher apears as good as new in my retro kitchen
