A local pawn shop has one of these on the floor. Looks very new. It has some crazy looking impeller on the bottom, with little mini impellers on the main one. I've read other's negative (some positive) opinions on the front load LG's. Any opinions on the top loaders? It certainly isn't like I NEED another washer, BUT this one has such a weird impeller and most importantly, it fits down the narrow stairs.

Opinions please!

may be of help

Hello Guy,
I do nor know if the models in Canada are the same as what are available here in Australia, but if you go to this website:www.productreview.com.au and enter washing machines in the search bar,you will find some Australian customers who have given reviews of some of these lg machines, my reading of it is that the large family capacity models get fairly good reviews and some of the smaller ones get absolutely roasted.
I personally do not own any lg whitegoods but I do own a microwave oven,a vacuum cleaner, large television, dvd player and vcr by lg and they do seem to work quite well.
I hope this is of some help to you.
Cheers
Steve.

Guy,

I've had nothing but good experiences with LG products. My friends here in Germany who needed service got it quickly and competently.
That said, in the US their service is worse than bad.
Don't know about Canada, maybe you folks are luckier than your southern friends.
So go for it if you want it...but find out where you can get the parts and manuals to fix it yourself, first.

LG turbodrum

Hi everyone. These type of washers are really common here in Mexico. Some people in my family own this washer, which by your description, is called turbodrum here. I have seen them several times washing and I could not really say they have a very good performance. The ones I know are exactly the one you describe and the other models are the same thing as the GE Harmony, which I think makes a worse job comparing to the other one. The mini impellers are supposed to help in the washing action, but my hands have been at the buttom of the machine while it´s working and they kept still unless you touch them. The only thing that moves is the main impeller to one direction and the hole tub to the other and then alternates directions. They don´t wear or tear clothes, but doesn´t wash them really good either. If you do a very dirty load, many things come out the same as they got in.

When this relatives saw how my WF316BAW FL Samsung or my TL Whirlpool Catalyst performed with even the worst stains on clothes, they couldn´t believe it. They decided to get rid of their Turbodrums and got new FL also LG branded, and have had excelent results. They said wouldn´t buy anything similar to the turbodrum system never again. I

t could be very good machine for those of you who don´t get clothes dirty and only need a little refresh. It has a great capacity.

BTW I´ve also seen this system on Samsung machines and they do a pretty good job. They have different forms of impellers, and the washing action is stronger without ruining clothes as normal agitators do. So, if you are looking for a Turbodrum system go with the Samsung. I don´t know if they are sold in the US, but as I said at the begining, they are really common washers here in Mexico. I will post some pictures of the LG Turbodrums and the Samsungs.

Here come the Samsungs

They could look pretty much as the LGs, but the washing plate or impeller has different shape and it does get an excelent job with clothes without damages. I hope you can see how different the impeller is, and its size. I will also take pictures of them some time later and post them.

More

More. This is the most recent model Samsung made, it´s only 10 Lbs, and it is really small. Could be great for small apartments or where there´s not big room for big appliances.

Impellers pictures at last!!!

LG with the mini impellers sticked in the main one. As you can see, the main impeller has so damn small fines (about 5 cm from the buttom to the top or less) that could hardly get a good job on clothes!!!
