I'm not sure what you're asking, here. Do you mean "do you shake the bottle of dishwashing detergent before you squirt it into the sink?"

If so, the answer is no. I just pick the the bottle from under the sink and squirt a little into the sink.

If I've misunderstood your question, please clarify and I'll try again. Sorry, it's early and I haven't had my first cup of coffee, yet, LOL.

Way back when we tried liquid Cascade we always would shake the bottle before using. It seemed that the stuff separated in the bottle after sitting for awhile and if you poured it, you'd get some clear liquid out first then a heavy goo. Shaking it prevented this from happening.

I don't think I"ve ever bought any of this liquid stuff for myself.  When I've been at friend's house who use this kind of stuff, I always shook it for some strange reason.  And, this proves why I wouldn't wanna use the GE SmartDispense system in their dishwashers, if it separates in the dispenser in the door, we're talkin about a messy service call eventually.

I used to shake the bottle, per whirlcool's description, back in the day when I used liquid DW detergent. I have used only Electrasol/Finish tabs since purchasing my Bosch DW ten years ago.

Thanks for the clarification, Cleanteam. And the answer is still no, I don't shake the bottle. I've never noticed the gel/liquid 'separate' from sitting on the shelf.

I use Finish Powerball tablets as my daily driver. I save the Cascade Complete gel for really, really tough loads of pots/pans, as I can control the dosage. Suppose I could simply put two tablets in the dispenser; have never tried that.

Thanks for the answers fellas!
I still shake my bottle it a little, but I do find that the new stuff does not separate like the older versions!

I know most of us converted to tabs and I do use all three choices.
Currently I don't have one favorite for they all perform well enough for the load I'm washing.....

I did notice the gel-liquid separation with Cascade liquid, but that was ten years ago. The Bosch came with a sticker in the door rim that read "Bosch recommends using Electrasol tabs and Jet Dry", so I gave my existing supply of Cascade liquid to the neighbor whose DW wasn't quite so fussy. ;)

My Bosch also came with a sticker recommending Cascade detergent.

The new Bosch dishwashers have a recommendation for Finish dishwashing detergent stamped into the plastic detergent door. But that is just marketing - the manufacturers pay Bosch to do that.
