Dave,
I think that the oven is actually stainless steel. This wasn’t uncommon at that time to have the other appliances in a color and the wall oven in SS. And that configuration of having the wall oven in a wall away from the rest of the appliances was common kitchen design at that time too.

Yes, it is similar in color to the aluminum panel on the lower section of the refrigerator. As you mentioned, sometimes the oven, and frequently the cooktop, were in Brushed Chrome finish, while the other appliances were colors.

That GE Monogram/Medallian ad is a marketing tool for home-builders, and I suppose back then when "The Total Electric Home" ads were hammered into the public's brains until it seemed like a good idea. - and giving the electric utility companies and GE a nice boost in revenue.

Back then, you never heard about issues with The Grid, and it's limitations.
But today? - god forbid you use too much electricity, you'll get warned about some grid blackout issues. (the "fear" factor')

And along the way came the "Energy Saving" appliances, a complete turnaround in selling, attracting the homeowner to buy into saving some money.
When in actuality, it was just another marketing tool to make you spend more money on new appliances.

Mom used to complain about a $7.53 electric bill back in the 1960s......
She'd turn over in her grave today if she knew people pay $200+ for electric service.
