I'm really sorry to keep at this, and very much appreciate everyone's generosity, but things are confusing to an outsider, especially with people using different terminology.
I gather I could update to the newer style sleeve (which I think some call the valve assembly) but don't really have to as long as I clean it and replace what is here called the sock, which I take to be what the business calls the valve. Does that rubber valve come with a plastic nozzle inside? Or is the nozzle a separate part, in which case what's its number? I could try to clean the old nozzle, but if it isn't too expensive it might make sense to replace it as well as the valve.
And yes, good idea to have new clamps at the ready.
