OT: Prayers & good thoughts please

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hey guys. I know that you all have been through this or know someone who has. I lost my Father when I was 15 (1988) but no one in my family since then.

I need some good thoughts/prayers for my 87 year old grandmother who lives in Sun City, AZ.

She has been ill for awhile now but within the last month has been diagnosed with lung/liver masses (she refuses to have a biopsy but they are sure it is cancer). Dr says it is very aggressive. She also had pneumonia but was well enough to go home from the hospital a few weeks ago with at home oxygen. She has also dropped about 20 pounds in the last month because she is queasy all the time. My mother and uncle have been taking care of her 24-7 and it's been a huge strain on all of them.

My grandmother feels terrible because she hates being dependant on them and for taking their time. They would not have it any other way. Hospice was going to be calling on them Monday to dicuss their options. She wanted to stay home no matter what.

Needless to say, even with the wonderful care that they are giving her at home, they had to call an ambulance today because she was gasping for air. The ER contacted hospice and they are arranging to take her to a hospice facility tonight.

I know that this is not what she wanted and is not happy. She is still very sharp but her body is failing her.

I will be there on 12/6 and while I would love to see her again, I hope that she passes sooner rather than later so that she does not suffer anymore.

Please keep her and family in your thoughts and prayers-I would so apprecaite it!

Heather

I´m sorry to hear about that. I hope she will go through cancer as well and will be healed. In july, my mum got a diagnosis that she has breast cancer. It is a hard fight but you can go thrugh it! Since Thursday, we know that my mum is fine again and that the tumors are gone!!

Oh, Heather.

I'm so sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your grandmother and your entire family at this difficult time.

Hang in there and keep us posted when you can.

We're here if you need us.

Thanks....

Well, the good thoughts were with her as she passed this morning. My mom said it was very peaceful. She passed away on the same day as the death of her second husband as well as on her brothers birthday.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it.

Heather, I suspect she wouldn't have had it any other way. My mom was much like her, not wanting to impose on anyone, ever. I was glad that she wasn't as sharp as she used to be over the last year or so of her life. She would have been so frustrated not being able to do the most basic things for herself and having people take care of her. At least it was brief for your grandmother. She's in a better place now.

Our deepest sympathies, Heather!

As passings go(I've witnessed many) this sounds like the best possible way. It appears that she had a pretty good quality of life pretty much up to her passing. It seems that she was embracing the idea and this is probably why she passed so peacefully.

Our prayers to you and your family!!

Heather:

My Condolences of the Passing of your Grandmother. You and your Families are in my Thougths and Prayers. I've lost so many Family members these past several years and especially ones that were real close to me, I know what you are going through.

I have been attending and helping out with a couple of Bereavement and Grieving Groups, that not only help me with my losses, but they have been helping me, to be there for others, when they need someone on a One-On-One to talk too.

Peace, Blessings, Prayers, Condolences and Hugs, Steve
