Hey guys. I know that you all have been through this or know someone who has. I lost my Father when I was 15 (1988) but no one in my family since then.
I need some good thoughts/prayers for my 87 year old grandmother who lives in Sun City, AZ.
She has been ill for awhile now but within the last month has been diagnosed with lung/liver masses (she refuses to have a biopsy but they are sure it is cancer). Dr says it is very aggressive. She also had pneumonia but was well enough to go home from the hospital a few weeks ago with at home oxygen. She has also dropped about 20 pounds in the last month because she is queasy all the time. My mother and uncle have been taking care of her 24-7 and it's been a huge strain on all of them.
My grandmother feels terrible because she hates being dependant on them and for taking their time. They would not have it any other way. Hospice was going to be calling on them Monday to dicuss their options. She wanted to stay home no matter what.
Needless to say, even with the wonderful care that they are giving her at home, they had to call an ambulance today because she was gasping for air. The ER contacted hospice and they are arranging to take her to a hospice facility tonight.
I know that this is not what she wanted and is not happy. She is still very sharp but her body is failing her.
I will be there on 12/6 and while I would love to see her again, I hope that she passes sooner rather than later so that she does not suffer anymore.
Please keep her and family in your thoughts and prayers-I would so apprecaite it!
Heather
