Don (jetaction) and I drove up to Geoff’s (geoffdelp) house in Foley which is about 75 minutes north of downtown Minneapolis on Saturday to take part in his 1964 Maytag’s maiden wash load! We all had such a nice time and Geoff has a beautiful home. His collection of wringer washers is just incredible, each one is in more mint condition that then next.

I took the video camera so we could film the maiden wash. To say Geoff's brand new Maytag A700S is BEAUTFUL is a HUGE understatement. It is just amazing to see a vintage washer that’s never been used before, and the smells are incredible, like it is right out of the factory!

Thanks again Geoff, I’m looking forward to coming up again soon.

Here are the videos:

Trip to Foley, Part I highlights the Maytag and its very first wash load with clothes!

Trip to Foley, Part II Geoff demonstrates the Suds-Return, then gives us a tour of his wringer washers. At the end both Don and Geoff make me use a very strange clothes dryer, for the life of me I could not figure out how to turn it on!

I wish I could have smelled!

Well, where is the damn softener dispenser then??

Robert, you didn't read the Owner's Manual that came with that dryer did you?

Congrats on the amazing find, Geoff, you deserve it and I know it will look just like the day it left the factory for the rest of it's life!

Great Videos!!

What Great videos. I loved it all wish I was their. I had never knew anyone that used a suds return. It was nice to see the action. Also nice to use a brand new Maytag from a era when things were made real well.
Best Wishes
Peter

YAY for MIB!

Yay Geoff - I can't believe you waited this long to try out the Maytag! Thanks Geoff, Don, and Robert for sharing your wonderful afternoon - I bet the new washer smells were amazing!

LMAO Oh if this were not on the www I would just have to make some funny comments, although not as funny as some of Robert's comments! Got to be the gaaaaayest washer films ever to hit YouTube.

Oh, and Geoff's "poking" stick was toooo funny. Georgedon found some "wands" in the toy department of a store and bought each of us one. Too festive! Anyway, those "pokers" do come in handy for those pesky air bubbles.

Geoff you certainly have a fabulous collection of 'Tags.

Thanks guys, for making my Monday morning.

Sweeeet!!!!!

Congrats on that phat, mint, Maytag, that's when maytags were maytags, so great to see a vintage washer like being put to good use today. Just one question how in the world did you fall upon a piece like that? Sweeeet!!!

Wow how cool to see a real Virgin Load!!

And that agitation spin are snap on like the timer! And it stops so fast you could make change.

Beautiful machine Geoff congratulations on a wonderful find'n'save!!

Robert nice video I love the opening logo sequence!!

Poor Greg never got to see his dispener in action,oh well we will all have to come out to Geoff's and see for ourselves!!

very cool!

Looks like a great machine, I'd never seen a suds-saver work!

Don't feel bad Robert, I've never used one of those dryers either!

What Can I Say ...

... except that we had a WONDERFUL time! Those two guys are real clowns; my laundry room will never be the same ... of which I am SO glad about!!! :-)

Thank you both so very much for coming; I'm still chuckling to myself over the washer antics.

Robert ... thank you posting these videos; what a hoot!! I love the tangling sequence; it's a classic ... complete with the buzzer and the "oh, oh" sounds.

Robert is a HUGE Frigidaire fan; he was very tolerant of my Maytag "stuff". Don is just as funny ... such a great sense of humor in both of them; I'm sure a lot of stuff made it to the cutting room floor!!

My sheets got dry, BTW; it's a doggoned good thing my "tighty-whities" weren't sent to the line to dry. HEAVENS ... they probably would have been all over the yard and garden. What WOULD the neighbors say???

Oh; we DID use the vintage Oxydol on a final load of towels with fresh hot water. Some of the fragrance was still there but it took THREE ... yes, three ... rinses to get all of the detergent out. BOY ... those vintage detergents really made long lasting suds; my water is fairly soft in the laundry room, too.

I'm going to work on removing the wonderful label. I'll try the blow dryer technique first; someone from here recommended that.

THANKS AGAIN Don and Robert ... I had a terrific time; let's do it again!! :-)

Geoff

Geoff----

You can get huge wide razor-blades new at Home Depot or Lowe's -----usually in the paint department. Should be perfect to peel that label right off. Just have your piece of cardboard or whatever you are going to mount in on ready as it will want to roll up on you.

I wish I could see films like that every morning!
Wonderful!

Wild &Crazy Gents: Got home late and just had a delicious di

And now the grand treat of the evening will be to watch the videos. I can hardly wait, and I'm dying with excitement to see if the sud-return operates at the normal speed, which means the pump will be operating at "all ahead FULL" regarding the impeller. This so exciting!! Part of the pleasure of aging is delayed gratification. So later tonight, after the Newshour and a few chores, when everything is perfect, and I'm all settled in, it will be time for your masterpiece. Thank you so much for what is sure to become a totally orgasmic evening. It'll be spectacular !!! Woo-woo ! Woo-woo ! Woo-woo !

Your friend,

Mike

I must be behind the times. We have a '98 Maytag w/ suds-saver which we use all the time. My Mom has always had washers with them. Our family has always hung our laundry outside as well, weather permitting. I love the feeling of being able to cheat the electric & gas companies.

P.S. Mom had a '67 Filter-Flo w/ suds return, '82 Filter-Flo w/ suds return, and a '97 Maytag w/ suds saver.

Geoff, I love it! I wish I could have been there for all of the fun. Geoff, What if we did a joint wringer washer wash in at your place? (you have a newer house than I do, mine (1897)and the basement is awful)! lol I could get a truck and bring along one of my ABC's? Good idea, bad? lol Gary

What fun to see these videos! Geoff, if you wash in a wringer on any of Robert's visits, based on his clothesline performance, perhaps he should only observe, rather than participate in, its operation. He's made it this long with his limbs intact, would be a shame to change that now. (LOL)

Perhaps I can talk the two of them into repeating the trip with me when I visit in September.
