A friend of mine decided that he hated his newer Bosch dishwasher(racking was terrible and did not dry...had to open after it was done and usually ran the dw at nite, so when the dw was opened in the morning, everything was wet).
A neighbor of mine did a kitchen remodel and I took his KitchenAid dw.
Lo and behold, my friend decided to take replace his Bosch with this KitchenAid(KUDM23SE)

Vanna White a/k/a Toggle will be adding the pictures today in that the Gadget's computer is not cooperating.

Y'all didn't know I could be so rugged and butch, didja installing that big bad machine all by my little lonesome.

Here is the "old" Bosch

On Vinyl, Gasp!

I have no doubt you can switch with the best of them, but it breaks my heart to see a man of your stature laying on vinyl. Shouldn't you only work on marble, porcelain tile or inlaid Brazilian flooring? At least carry a mat for protection.

I always carry protection. Grandpa always was in favor of pr

Oh Kelly, thank you but I'm from Queens (think Archie Bunker in All in the family. Tacky is ALLOWED!)

Bottom of machine. In area that used to be an access panel when DW-ers had TWO doors/panels.

This ain't my hosue, so please pardon the schmutz. I would have cleaned so that you judgemental bitches wouldn't be dis'in my @$$. :-)

Bosch-es have a water tray that catches any leaking. (See beige plastic). IIRC there is a sensor there that squeels should there be a flood.

Felxible water tube (SS braids over PVC plastic) shown.

The elctrical connection is in the customary place, right side of access door area.

Unlike Americna dishwashers, (where cable from the house meets machine's wires and gets a wire nut over each conductor, this electrical juncition box has a terminal block.

We do have terminal blocks for wiring in stoves and clothes dryters (whica use 220v). My gut instinct is that terminal blocks make for safer and tigher connections. With 220v one has to be REALLY safetly conscious.

BTW this thread was purosely put in the Imperial section so we could joke, laugh and carry on and not have it be archived.

With this economy I wonder why I bothered getting an education. The way things are going we all need to be working on our backs to get ahead financially.

Talked with him this morning

He is thrilled with the good racking.
He was annoyed at the lengthy cycles(some taking over 2 hours) and with no drying heater.
The cycles are much quicker(the final rinse is automatically heated).

He is one to set the dw on before bedtime and empty in the morning. With the Bosch, most items were still wet in the morning. With the KitchenAid this morning, everything was clean and dry(Normal cycle).

Glad I was able to rescue this KitchenAid and send it to a good home.

In all fairness to the Bosch

It was an excellent cleaner and extremely quiet.
But the long cycle times, poor racking and lack of a drying heater and fan were just too many negatives for my friend who inherited the machine when it came with the house.

Hopefully, he will be much happier with a traditional American style that he is used to.

24 Inches s slightly larger than 60cm

If we count the number of left-to-right rows of tines in the lower rack, the KithcenAid has 7, whereas the Bosch has only 4. Makes loading a *itch.

The gadget and I spent a good deal of time trying all differents brands of racks in the Bosch. NOTHING worked. The width of the machinne was 1/4 to 1/2 inch narrower say (10 to 15mm)than any other Anerican brand.

Silverware basket

It really doesn't BELONG at teh front of the bottom rack!!! If you do that, you end up losing some space for placing of a nice comfortable row of dishes and then some oblong cassaroles or stuff. Look at my BobLoad pics of the Kenmore. it BELONGS on the right side of the bottom rack for utmost racking capacity and efficiency. I noticed immediately the silverwaer rafck in the Bosch being out of place. No wonder he couldn't get much in there. Do you get the idea I do not like for silverware baskets to be placed where they weren't designed to? Especially since I do not thihnk it's splittable, which is a big loss. At least with it splittable, you can remove sectons not needed. Again, see my dishwasher loads. I split it for a reason, being increase capacity and flexibility. I better get off my soap box before I get further pi**ed. This is not a porcelain KitchenAid. Adjust and you'll se you'll be able to put more in there the way it was intended.

The Bosch

Do you know if he had set the bosch to boost the final rinse temp to improve drying results? Look in the manual, it is a combination of button presses. I did it to mine and it greatly improved drying. Everything I put in is dry. I have noticed on loads with a lot of plastic, they are not as dry. How does the dB of the KA compare to the Bosch?
