Oxydol

CR Brands has revamped Oxydol detergent. I picked up a couple of bottles a few days ago for $3.00 each. I was planning on using it for my dog blankets and beds.

On the back label, it says it can be used in HE machines, so I gave it a try in the LG front loader. It has a great, fresh scent and I must say, it performed just as good as Gain or Tide HE on my white clothing.

It is a much better detergent than the Oxydol liquid manufactured recently by Redox Brands.

Give it a try, this appears to be a very good detergent!

Shane and I bought it one night at Big Lots, near my house. $3 a bottle. I tried it in the Calypso, and it did a FANTASTIC job with just a single teaspoon of detergent. I filled the cap to the "0" line (it goes 0 to 4) and it really did a good job. The scent is wonderful, light, pleasant and stays with the clothes right through the dryer. Didn't use any additives, and it got the dog's bedding and towels sparkling clean and fresh. I used it on a load of towels, too, and it left them pretty nice too.

Probably Too Much to Ask:

I'm going to give this a try ('Tag centre-dial TL). I hope the scent is somehow reminiscent of the old Oxydol scent I remember as a kiddie. Oxydol was my grandmother's favourite back in the days of wringer washers and line-drying. She liked it for my grandfather's white dress shirts, using it with plenty of Clorox. Those shirts weren't just clean - they smelled so clean your eyes almost watered.

Hi Leslie- Yes, "new" Oxydol does contain enzymes. Enjoy! =)

Hi Sandy- To be honest, I don't remember that smell you described from "classic" Oxydol. I was probably not born yet, or too young. This "new" Oxydol is a very good product,and like Andrew said, It smells wonderful!!. It is also light green in color. Pick up a few bottles. It is also available in powder form.

I have seen it at Winn-Dixie, Albertson's, and Big Lots. If you cannot find any bottles, let me know and I can send you some

I always like the scent of this product. The best useage I found was for cleaning walls and such that had tar and nicotine on them. 1st house I bought was heavily coated with cigarette smoke probably from 30 years. I don't think these people every opened a window. I tried everything to get the brown off the walls. Was doing some laundry one day while cleaning walls and said what the heck can't hurt. I was amazed at how well this worked compared to all the other stuff I had tried. About a half a cup of the powder version in a bucket of hot water and some towels and cleaned very nicely and left a nice scent to the room.

They had this at the Big Lots near me, too. Didn't buy any but will go back for some.
They had one other scent, too: "Bingo Bango Mango."

I Am Unanimous In That!

The "Clean and Fresh" formula reminds me of the classic Oxydol scent, just not nearly as strong. Cleaning ability is quite good; the product does have enzymes, according to the CR Brands Website. A load I ran yesterday had a shirt I'd gotten spaghetti sauce on, and my spaghetti sauce could stain the hull plates of a battleship. I sprayed the spot with Shout and washed as usual (centre-dial 'Tag, Regular cycle, warm). Came as clean as you please.

For three bucks a bottle, Oxydol is replacing my old standby, Huish's Sun liquid. Sun has been re-formulated for a 3X concentration, and they've jacked up the scent to near-P & G levels. The consistency of Sun is now so thick it reminds me of STP, the motor oil additive. And I can't take the girlygirlygirly scent. Their "Mountain Fresh" softener is still okay, thank God, even though it too has been concentrated; it's still not too thick to work properly in the 'Tag's dispenser.
