Perculator Coffee Pot

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I will admit that the Sunbeam Cofeemaster Vacuum pots make the best coffee. The one we have needs a new gasket as the old gasket crumbled on us. We also have a Cuisinart drip maker. But we are using this Corning perc pot as it is different and the coffee tastes pretty good!
Here's a photo of our gift. Sorry about the quality of the photo.

Launderess, thanks for always making me smile! LOL

Kenwashesmonday, that reminds of one time when my roommate washed my percolator. I don't know if he just forgot to rinse or what, but when I went to fill it next time, it turned to complete suds as I did so, like when you squirt some Dawn into the sink and turn on the water!

Whirlcool, enjoy your wonderful new pot. I have one just like it. They make good coffee, and the cornflower pattern was always my favorite of theirs, though thanks to Gary and some others I've seen patterns of theirs I never knew or dreamed existed!

I am a dyed in the wool percolator user. I like the coffee far better (I suppose it's a matter of taste, but except in a Bunn or commercial unit, drip coffee tastes like nothing more than hot water to me). Even if there were no other reason, I simply don't have the countertop real estate to devote to one of those beasts.

Farberwares have been a perennial favorite, particularly being they're so fast. Thanks to one of Gary's posts showing his collection, I learned of a Corning unit that is clear glass, like the Proctor Silex units. I found one on Ebay, and as it has red trim that looks nice in my kitchen, it is the one I use most these days. I also have a collection of Sunbeams, Proctors, Hoovers and what-not.

The vacuum units are kind of messy to deal with, but they definitely do make good coffee, and I have several.

Vacuum coffee makers

I have a Sunbeam vacuum coffee maker. The gasket is bad - is there a source for these?

Next question: I have never used one and I have no owner's manuals. How do you use them?

Scott, it was my pleasure to show my collection. BTW...Is this the perk that you were referring to????

Wake Up And Smell The Coffee!!!

Digital alarm clocks and drip coffee makers were harbingers of the new frenzy we were about to embrace as a culture. As a child I remember laying in bed in the morning listening to the sound of coffee percolating and the smell of coffee permating the house.
In the 90's we reverted back to a Sunbeam Percolator. I would lie in bed, upstairs over the kitchen and listen to the burp and wheeze of the percolator increase in speed and intensity and the delicious smell of coffee wafting up the stairs to lure me down for the first cup of coffee. When I think I can afford it I use Gevalia Traditional roast.
The depth and richness of the percolated coffee was out of this world. I went back to dripping again when I sold all the vintage appliances and collections in 2002. I Cuisinarted for a year and when it quit I have been Kitchenaiding since. I do like the clock feature and the automatic start.

Hi Gary, yes that's the one! Not more than a few weeks after I saw your picture, I saw (and won) one on Ebay. I only make coffee on weekends, and that is what I use. It makes great coffee! Here 'tis!

My wonderful objects

Sandy,
The wonderful object is a canister that holds coffee. I have two larger ones that match that I keep small amounts of flour and sugar for incidenatal additions to daily cooking. Thank you for admiring my junque.
