Now why am I thinking that "bobbynyc" is Rob...?

Veg, BobbyNYC posted a really nasty message so I deleted it and posted their incoming IP address of the person who posted that message in that slot. If you do an IP lookup you will find that the message originated from the Washington, DC suburbs from the Virginia Side. While that doesn't tell us who posted that message, you need to do more research for that, it does tell us who didn't post that message. BobbyNYC was no where near Long Island when he/she posted that message.

I can get lots of info from the IP addresses, and I record it with each post, just in case, to help protect the club.

Elementary, my dear Watson!

You're a Super Sleuth!

Unless Rob (Rob, not Robert, not Bob) was visiting VA, I guess I was wrong.

The plot, as they say, thickens. Or maybe not. Maybe we should just let the whole thing go.

Did I say that? These bursts of maturity are so unlike me! I tend to agree with a certain gorgeous philosopher who said "Queens gotta have their drama!"

Careful ....

Don't necessarily take the physical location reported by an IP look-up as gospel. If I'm not mistaken, AOL's home offices are in VA, which may be why the IP traces to that location. AOL, of course, has service across the entire nation.

A look-up on my IP correctly reports my town ... but again that's because it's registered to the ISP located there. If I was in Minneapolis, connected via long-distance dial-up, the IP would still trace to Texas.

My appologies, I stand corrected...

Hi Glen and Veg, yes you are correct the site I was using didn't go as indepth as to the actual location. Thanks! I will keep this new site in my favorites.

Indeed that post did originate in the NY metropolitan area after all.
