This was at the end of Philco washers. Probably the nicest and fanciest machine they made. I had a set of these once upon a time. The washer washed fairly well, but would spin out about as well as a Kenmore of the same vintage. The dryer was extremely slow and took much longer to dry than most. It was also difficult to clean the lint trap. You had to unfasten the bottom panel and empty a wire mesh cylinder that held the lint. It did have a glass door insert like a front load washer and there was a combination washer/dryer that looked the same as this set also. But this was at the tail end of the run for Philco. Probably about a 1968 model, since they did not make it into the 70's.

That set is plenty pretty for sure!!! If I could have gotten em to play records like a jukebox, I would have kept em for sure!!! Mark Harmon has a LOT of pretty machines.

When my moms 58 duomatic started acting up, she went over to Firestone and bought one of the duos with all the colored buttons. It had to be in 68 as I had already graduated and moved on. It was truly the worst thing built. It always leaked thru the dryer venting and the drive belt always slipped. Warranty service constantly for belts, one timer and they could never get the leak to stop. Finally bearings went out and finally she went and bought a Frigidaire set. She used them until her passing in 86. She loved those machines and took real good care of them. To bad Philco didn't keep quality up with their machines. They sold off to WW at the right time. They were beautiful looking machines though.

I liked the earlier solid-tub machines. The coin-op machines lacked the filter and detergent column and had something ridiculous like a length of a black broomstick instead. It is interesting that a few have survived and are in good shape. When they worked right they did a good job of cleaning. I remember the Blades'o Water ad on tv.
