I've been trying to remember what the full name of the Kenmore "Visi" Wringer Washers is. I was also told on Monday Evening by a Friend that his Mother has a 1930's Wringer Washer and he thinks that it was made by Westinghouse. Is this true that Westinghouse did in fact Manufacture Wringer Washers? He said that his Mother's Wringer Washer starts to Act-Up once in a while, so she gives it a Kick or Shifts the Lever from Agitate to Neutral and back to Agitate and it goes on its way again. He also told me that if the Electricity goes out, the Wringers can be Hand-Cranked.

Is it possible if this Wringer Washer was made by Westinghouse, that someone here has one, that they would very graciously share a Pix of their Westinghouse Wringer Washer?

Hi Steve

Yes, Westinghouse made wringer washers. My great aunt had one with a big black bakelite spiral vane agitator in it. Here is a link to a vintage advertisement for a Westinghouse wringer washer. I've also seen ads for Westinghouse spinner washers, similar to the Easy spinners we are all familiar with.

I think Westinghouse stopped making wringers after WW II when the Laundromat automatic washer was introduced...at least in the U.S. They may have still sold them in Canada, where wringers were very popular and Westinghouse had a strong following.

Re: Thank You:

"golittlesport" Rich and "frontaloadotmy" Darrel, for the "quickie" info reply. I'm not too sure either about if the name does have the dash in it or not, I just really appreciate the info. Thank you for the Link to the E-Bay listing of the Ad For Sale.

My Friend told me that his Mother's Wringer Washer was more into the 1930's but I'm sure that it looked at least somewhat similar to the one in the Ad Pix.

Have a great Day, Week and Weekend upcoming.

Peace and Great Laundry Times, with a Wringer Washer, Steve

Just ran down to check the girl

Visi-Matic

Caps on the V & M
and a hyphen in between

That Westinghouse Wringer is a beaut. Who knew?

Wish I could read the fine print.

Re: Thank You:

"mickeyd" Michael for the update about the Visi-Matic name. Do you have any Pix's of your Washer? Does your Visi-Matic have the Pregnant Roto-Swirl Agitator with the Rubber/Scrubber and Detergent Measuring Cup?

I would like to know the year or Manufacture of yours as well as how many years if you know, that they were Manufactured. I do remember seeing them at the Sears Stores here through at least the late 1960's and maybe even in the early 1970's.

Yes, Steve

Go to Gansky's Kenmore Sears Catalog thread and scroll up a bit to my link and you can see the beautiful Visi-matic doing her roto-swirl and wring at both speeds. It's the non-pregnant streamlined one.

A friendly funny conversation among the brothers, as usual, and a couple unexpected gems among photos--all Lady K Wringer and a few Maytag Commander.

Re: Thank You:

Everyone who contributed to Answers and Pix's for me to get to see the Kenmore Visi-Matic Wringer Washer in Action, as well as the Maytag Wringer Washer.

"Sister" Michael {mickeyd} I couldn't get the Link's to open for me on this Dinosaur Gateway Tower that I've been using for almost 1-year now. I've got my newer E-Machine Tower almost ready to come back home, from my Friends getting some "PM'ing" and a new awesome Hard-Drive being Installed. I'm hoping then that I will be back into being able to do what I used to do, as far as opening Links, etc.

Peace, Blessings, Great Laundry Washing in Wringer Washers, Steve
