i just tried the new finish quantum dishwasher tabs, since my frusteration with cascade action pacs, the results were AMAZING! here are a few pictures, and to make it worse i have a new frigidaire tall tub which all of you know only has mediocre cleaning. my silverware was spotless, my glasses sparkled and the picture below is of the glass plate from my microwave, a couple of things spilled and have been baked on for about a month. let the before and after pictures speak for themselves.

quantum tabs

they are a little pricey, the small package i got has 12 tabs, it was $4.42 at walmart. i paid $12.48 for 48 cascade action pacs i think i might just keep these for heavily soiled dishes and just use the regular finish powder lemon scent for everything else, finish powder is $3.42 for a 1lb box where cascade complete is roughly $6.48 for the same 1lb box, so cascade is almost double the price and it doesn't even work HALF as good as finish. cascade is just not worth it anymore. now if P&G emailed me and said they have recently changed the formula i might try it again but for now NO MORE CASCADE! thy just lost me as a customer. i have been buying cascade for years!

Quantum with phoshpate was excellent, and now the Non-phosphate version continues to do an excellent job. I am not a big tab fan, but most of my loads are big and dirty so a tab makes sense. If you look at the amount of detergent in one of these tabs it looks like no more than a tablespoon spoon. I have tried the new Finish powder with enzymes which is a little cheaper than the tabs and it also seems to work well.

Finish Quantum

I too have had good results with the Quantum tabs, both phosphated and non-phosphated. I think I will probably use them as my main detergent after I run out of my stash of Cascade. I have tried two versions of the new formula of Cascade ( Complete Gel & Cascade w/Dawn powder ) and really wasn't all that impressed with either. Things were clean but they really didn't shine like when I use the phosphated version of Cascade or the Quantum tabs. Hopefully, they'll come down in price a little :-/

quantum tabs

yes you are right neptuneguy, i agree when i used casade the dishes just don't shine like they do with finish, it truly is the diamond standard in dishwashing lol

Electrosol/Finish/Jet Dry

I always swore by the products that were made originally by Economics Laboratories. I worked in restaurants back in the 70's and early 80's and all they used was Electrosol and Jet Dry that was automatically dispensed using tubes and tanks.Once I got my own dishwasher and used the same formulas,I was hooked.I have never used any other brand in any dishwasher.I hate Cascade because I had some severe glass fogging on my old FRIGIDAIRE dishes and glassware.I sent a sample to P&G and all they wanted to do was send me their "New and Improved" Cascade with "Chlorashean" in it.

A Finish tab coupled with a 1/4 teaspoon of STPP in each dispenser is all I use in the KDS-19. Finish has far surpassed any other detergent I have experimented with since the phosphate ban. I'd even go out a limb and say that the non-phosphate Finish tabs slightly outperform the phosphate laden Cascade powder I was using the last couple of years. Worth every penny, IMO.

I just tried the Finish tabs for the first time and have to say it is the best detergent I have ever used! My dishes were totally spotless!

I also bought a box of the "Great Value" brand from Wal-Mart and found that all my glassware came out with white streaks and cloudy. Not a fan!

When using the Great Value brand from Walmart you have to add some STPP to get a good result. We add 1/2 tsp STPP to it and get great results.

I have found that the Quantum Powerball tabs are much better than the 3 On One tabs. The 3 In One tabs didn't clean well for us. And I don't want to spend a fortune washing dishes with the Finish Quantum tabs.

Finish

When my parents bought their first dishwasher in 1964 it came with a box of Cascade. It was ok. We have very hard water in our area. Our neighbor suggested that we use Finish. Well...this was the best detergent even back then, even better than Cascade. My mom and my own family have mechanical water softeners so the Cascade works okay, but not as good as it used to with the phosphates. The Walmart Great Value brand was excellent, and even rated excellent by CR, but when they took the phosphates out. UGH......

I now want to try the Finish Quantum Powerball.

Glad that you all had great results.

I've been very impressed with Finish tabs, too, although I haven't tried the Quantum version, yet.

I find the non-phosphate Powerball tabs to be better at cleaning things like starch rings off pots/pans than the phosphate Cascade pacs. I no longer stock Cascade Complete pacs, as I've found Finish Powerballs do just as good a job at a lower price.  I have one more 110-pac tub of the Cascade product left.  When they're gone, I'm switching to Finish Powerballs as my daily driver.  I'll have to try the Quantum tabs to see if any improvement in cleaning substantiates their steeper price.

I still use Cascade Complete Gel for my very worst loads of pots/pans, mainly because I can control (read: increase)  the dosage in both the prewash and main wash.
