Well I washing in the Bendixes (Bendii 4 those in the know) and had what I'd call a washing catastrophe but NO he loves Suds!
Suds up the window glass, full heaping suds!
So here ya go... as they say in Minnie!

But seriously, is that the way They should suds?

Should you be using HE detergent or did they use more water than today's machines and regular detergent would be the norm?

How would you have measured detergent back before HE fomulations?

Ummmm suds are meant for real washers you know solid basket top loaders, not little old front loaders. Front loaders are way more fun with suds 1/2 way up the window, Mister.

When the little one went into spin, did it vomit suds through the detergent chute? That is always very dramatic and a fitting climax to severe oversudsing.

Oh I need to get

A Cement mixer into the basement to formulate the Jon Dash properly and have been crusing CL for a year now looking for a good deal on one. They are not cheap and I need one that doesn't have gobs of hard cement inside. Which is why Jon Dash has been in a holding pattern for a year now.
As soon as I get that mixer you'll see scads of JonDash up for market!!

Now as too the mystery detergent, I used Wisk 3x concentrate HD. And as Greg guessed correctly, the suds were all gone by the first Assured rinse/drain and the water was crystal clear before the first spin.
Tom no suds up the chute BUT.. there were plenty of suds spurting up the drain pipes down the line all across the basement. So I got the floor cleaned as well!!

Oh and by the way the Poppies were delicious! Thank you!

HE vs HD

Thanks, Jon. With all of those suds, I figured it was Heavy Duty. That is poor suds control for an HE detergent, but I'll bet the manufacturers count on the pause between tumbles to let the suds fall a little and with the older FLs, except for the Launderall, AFAIK, there is no time wasted on pauses. It was that "Get 'er done" approach.
