Sears scratch & dent is on Woodruff Road at the servcie center right? I took my Kenmoore sewing machine there once and they sent it off for repair. Anderson used to have a service center, but it closed in the late 70's I believe.

I bought a vintage Sears Maid of Honor stainless steel 4 qt pressure cooker of Ebay. It is almost mint condition. I was excited to find an aoriginal owner's manual from another seller to compliment it. I use it all the time. I believe it was manufactured by National Presto Industried because their cooker models of the period at almost identical.

Joe...Hmm...... what does the King of Prussia Sears have over the one in Cherry Hill, Upper Darby or the one on Cottman Ave?  Maybe these are no longer in existence?

Sears Detergent

I was planning on going by my local Sears and trying the powder with the oxy in it.  But never made it today.  Perhaps tomorrow.  Although, I have enough detergent in supply to last me till the end of July so I really don't need it.

Jerrod: It is just a matter of convenience. I tend to be in King of Prussia fairly often as I get my hair cut nearby in Devon, and I pass through when I visit my parents. Plus I like to check out the mall once in a while. :-) But I think the Cherry Hill Sears is nicer.
 
Interesting....

It's over by the appliances at the mall here (Clackamas Town Center). I am amazed at the lack of consistency at where they place it. Too bad...it's excellent product.

Alas, I'm only driving a pathetically slow 60bhp 1.2 8v Fiat Punto, I am however only 19 with a measly 1yr no claims, so my insurance is high! lol.

Looking into something cheaper to insure because the Punto seems expensive to insure for what it is! A 1.4 16v Corsa is actually cheaper to insure!

Wow, that's a lot to insure a punto. I can recommed the Corsa, I had one I bought from a boy racer, souped up engine and big fat tyres...lol....loved it until it died and wasn't worth fixing.

Anyway.....back to the detergent, am still unsure if I am going to get some, maybe wait til some other UK guys have tried it.
 
Well, I Tried It

Sunday was laundry day, and I got to try the Sears detergent for the first time.

Honestly, I don't know how to rate it. I don't know if it's the water in my area (VERY HARD), but I remember a message I put up about a month ago and told how "All" was making my clothes feel rather harsh. I got exactly the same results with the Sears brand.

I did 3 loads. Two were in a Maytag top loader, and the other in a Maytag Neptune. Because of poor results, I had to do one load twice. It consisted of sheets as well as colored t-shirts and other items. The reason for washing the same items again was due to the washing action in one of the top loaders I had selected. It was a gentle wash action..not very fast(and I know for sure I had pressed the right button), so the rollover wasn't happening. If it were a half load of delicate clothes, it would've been great..but this was NOT the case.

After the washer stopped, I pulled things out one by one and noticed detergent streaks on quite a few items. The contents of that washer went into another washer, with a quarter scoop of Sears detergent and a tiny bit of Era Oxy.

In checking those items after the it completed its cycles, I AGAIN found powder detergent streaks on the t-shirts (I know the washing action in this one was up to par, as I saw them rollover). Three washes just wasn't going to happen, so I put the shirts to the side and let them sit in some warm water in a tub when I got home, and let them drip dry.

I think I was expecting waaaay too much from this stuff. My other items came clean, but they didn't appear any cleaner as if I were using Tide or "All" or any other brand.

On a scale of 10, I'll give it a 6.5-6.8. I'm also going to invest in some inexpensive liquid softener if I continue using it (but I'm looking for the 1.00 off Surf coupon I had on one of the end tables if I decide to alternate detergents).
 
@dirtybuck Were your sears detergent washes in cold, warm, or hot water?

I ask because both Laundress and myself have seen residue from the Sears detergent in cold water washes.

Yeah, I'm seriously going to have to consider getting rid of the Punto. I've seen an S reg 1.2 16v Corsa with only 60,000miles on it for £600, so giving that some serious thought! :-D

I agree with your comment regarding waiting for someone else to try it before taking the plunge. I don't think I'd ever be able to justify the cost if I didnt like it!

I know with the Neptune, you're stuck with the dispenser, but how did you add it to the top loaders? I have found it not so forgiving if just poured into the bottom of the tub; it works best for me when I start the fill, add the powder and let it mix in. After the machine's about 1/4 full, I add the clothing. I haven't found detergent streaks, but I HAVE found little undissolved detergent "stones" when I just put it in the bottom of the tub, added clothes and started the machine.

Along with pingmeep and Launderess, I don't care much for it in cold water although my machine has temp controlled cold and it does fine. I use liquid for the rare tap cold load.

Sorry it didn't work out that well for you, especially since I am one of the ones that usually sings its praises. A lot of it may be your water; my water is incredibly soft.
 
Sears Interior Paint

While getting ready for work this morning one of the bubbles in my brain popped and I remembered the name of the Sears Best interior paint. It was Sears Easy Living paint. It was a very good quality of paint also. Very easy to apply and lasted for years. I can't believe none of your fellas remember Sears dishwasher detergent. Perhaps they did not carry this product in your Sears stores.

The whites were washed in hot (but the "hot" water in this place really isn't all that...maybe 120-125 temp wise at the most), and the other 2 in "warm". The detergent was placed on top of the clothing as the washer was filling. There was no problem whatsoever in the top load Maytag with the whites.

I think what I'll do next time is take a 32 oz. cup with some warm/hot water, add the detergent in it to let it dissolve, and then pour it into the washer while it's filling.

I like the manager and his wife and the attendants (with the exception of one B**CH) at this laundromat. The only complaint I have is the hot water. I heard him tell a customer that he regulated the hot water to the temp I mentioned earlier, because he felt getting the water any hotter was "too hot". He also said that he couldn't put his hand in the washer while it was filling due to it being "too hot". DUH!!!
 
Well, I bought some of the Sears liquid laundry detergent and it's getting put to the test. Kitty sleeps on an old beach towel in the linen cabinet. His breakfast did not agree with him this morning and he threw up all over the clean towels stacked in there. I could have died. I didn't have much time before leaving for work so I used Shout gel on the stains and now they're washing in the Bosch with the new detergent. Keeping my fingers crossed.
 
Everybody is talking about the Sears detergent. I have used it over the years, and never had any bad experiences with it at all. I have used both the orange, and green formulas, and have had nothing but great luck with both. Ironically I just told my partner the other day, that I thought paying for the big name brands sucked, as this stuff really works on stains very well. I have a GE profile top loader which is an average washer, and my laundry comes out beautiful. There is my 2 cents worth.

how much?

After reading many great reviews on this site, I purchased my first box of the sears detergent. I could not find the "orange" box so many have mentioned here so I went with the green(there is a bit of orange on the box) box that has the stain fighting formula. Bought the powder, 125 load box. I'll try it out tomorrow. How much is everyone who has a non-HE toploader using for a full load.
 
About how much to use...

It should say on the box. I bought the unscented liquid formula. Both the powder & liquid had the he symbol on the packaging. Where I live the water is soft and my clothes don't get stained usually so I even use a tad less than what was recommended. It's a good detergent. Enjoy!
 
Sears Liquid Detergent.......

Sping cleaning here at home on this balmy day in the sunny south. Mind you is could be raining and in the upper 30's a few days from now, but you grab your happiness as the opportunity presents itself! ANYWAY, I digress as I am so famous for doing....cleaning blinds upstairs today and was using some old terry dish towels that had staining on them from the big spring clean. Popped them in the Bosch with a dose of the SEARS DETERGENT, no bleach, just the detergent, I did use hot water and they came out COMPLETELY CLEAN!!! I'm ready to start my own t.v. show where we test products. Would any of you like to come on as a guest??? LOL!!!
 
Sears Detergent

Hi washboy2005,

Did you ever get that box of Sears detergent you were speaking of above? Just so you know, the box recommends that you use one full scoop per load. Well, they used to package the powder with a one-cup plastic measure. And I was dumb enough to take their advice once - but only once - in an old Kenmore wringer. The suds, even though it's a low sudsing detergent went from machine, to floor to finished basement room - it looked like an "I Love Lucy" episode. Now I think the measuring cups are smaller but in any event you can still use half as much as they recommend and find the laundry comes out just fine. Now I think their measurers are about a 1/3 cup. Remember they are selling product for a profit. It's the consumer who controls how fast it's used.

...I am a new Sears detergent customer and a I recently bought the unscented wash powder and LOVE it. It is low sudsing and does an excellent job. I have an he machine and it calls for about an ounce of detergent per load. The box it cam in is not user friendly in my opinion so I went to my local hardware and bought a plastic paint bucket with snap-on lid and handle to store the wash powder in. Much more handy for my use.
 
I use the greenbox formula, and I love it. I think it works better than the orange box. Stain wise, it works very well. with very little, but pleasant smell. I highly recommend it to any one who hasn't tried it yet. I never see suds, and it rinses out very easily. Give it a go, You'll like it.
