Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

The only claim they would have is libel and defamation, which would only apply if the content is false. The online review would have to be proven as untrue in order to escape the First Amendment.

I would love to see a case brought before a jury.. "He said we were deleting negative reviews and firing dealers in an attempt to make us look better, which WE WERE, but that's not the point"

This product has been condemned by a dealer based on his opinion before the machine was even released for sale to the general public. One mans opinion may cost this company X amount in lost sales because of his opinion and videos which he posted online.
People are gonna love these washers and people are going to hate them, everyone has opinion, but if one man's opinion and posting of videos of the washer, working as designed, before it is even out for sale, negatively affects this company's reputation, bottom line and it's employees as well as dealers, then the company can and will seek restitution.
Think about it.

Just for the record

I purchased this set with my own hard earned money. My review was objective, and no personal insults were thrown. When they sold me this set, they didn’t say anything about me “waiting “ to put it up for sale, or waiting to do a review. I got this set earlier than anyone else because they knew I was a fanboy and figured I’d blindly promote their product. I’ll repeat: they never gave me ANY restrictions on what I can or can not do with this set.

The washer does , in fact, work as designed. I never disputed that. I commended them on how reliable and well built it is. It is just flat out false that it washes 5% better than the older version. That is a very misleading (intentional) statement. Sure, with one swatch of linen swishing around in 25 gallons of water it will clean just fine. Under real world conditions it just leaves my clothes a wee bit cleaner than I put them in with a bunch of soap stains.

My “opinion” may have cost this company money, but think about how many hard working consumers saved thousands of dollars by not getting roped in to deceiving statistics and pedigree.

Eugene

my only question, is this a fight that you really want to take on? Is it worth that much to you? Some things are better off left alone. You’re a small business owner and Alliance is a major corporation. We are all entitled to opinions and views but you know as a businessman it’s all about the Almighty Dollar.
I know you’re an intelligent man, I respect the fact that you care about your customers, Hell I’d even buy from you if I lived nearby. Be careful is all I am saying, you have expressed your views as a tech but your putting a major company on the defensive. Sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees. Your association with SQ ended in a way that I’m sure you didn’t want, don’t make things worse by antagonizing them any further. Just my advice.

.
You can voice your opinion on any subject.
Statements of fact later shown to be false sometimes have to be retracted, like when newspapers correct earlier false reports, and so on. Just because a company looses business that is not automatically the fault of whomever they decide to blame. They may attempt to sue, but probably won't want the negative publicity that would generate and therefore usually refrain from doing so.
Purposely attempting to harm or defame with lies and false information is of course risky, but it's also most of what passes for journalism these days.

I can assure you if I made any false statement I would have got a letter from their legal team immediately. All I’m doing is making videos of the machine in action and posting them on YouTube.

If they want to sue me, I can’t stop them from doing so. I have plenty of resources available to me and I will be able to defend myself and my actions. I would really urge sq to not do so as I’m sure a lawsuit of that nature would certainly garner a lot of media attention.

There's a lot of fair points going around.
It's also NOT out of the question that if Alliance wants to be exceptionally vindictive, they can absolutely try to pull a "Flash of Genius" and drag Eugene through court for years.
Companies don't care. They have dozens of suits constantly, with an army of revolving lawyers.

I doubt it'll come to that, but it's not like Eugene doesn't have a good defense either.
I hope this doesn't get messy. For everyone's sake.

The real tells will be how the ratings journalists do their reviews and their laboratory wash tests.

And thats why we are in the mess we are in today with pretty much everything. Because people seem to back off every challenge and let psychopaths turn them into their plaything. People turn a blind eye to injustice and systemic problems hoping it will never happen to them when it eventually bights them too harder then they could have ever imagined. Thats not how self preservation or a healthy society functions. While a nation of warriors just scored an entire nation with free housing, food, education, healthcare, and comfort, solitude, and peace beyond there wildest imagination.

If a man has to worry about retaliation from a corporation for stating the obvious then there are much bigger issues at hand then a crappy product and that needs to be dealt with.

I agree he is poking a sleeping dragon, but if he doesn't who else will? He has every right as an educated person to present the facts in order for buyers to make an educated decision. I think it would be immoral not to as customer may have to deal with a $900 loss wishing someone told them beforehand. Do you have any idea how many times I have bought something wishing someone told me before hand?

Saw the video and there's definitely a difference in cleaning. Do the 2018 Speed Queen top loaders let you do deepwater full fill loads and turn off the auto fill setting? My 2017 SQ FL doesn't go all the way to the top because of DOE regs. Anyone know the last year they did the real full fll?

DylanMitchell: Do the 2018 Speed Queen top loaders let you do deepwater full fill loads and turn off the auto fill setting?
Picture #3 in your Reply #22 of a SQ model TR7 control panel confirms there are Load Size choices for Small, Medium, Large, and Auto Fill ... so yes, the water level can be selected manually for three levels, or set for auto-sensed.

TR5 and TR3 have rotary controls but the water level selector has the same four choices as the touch-pad model.

In answer to Dadoes question I have the new 2018 Speed Queen model TR5 and it does allow you to choose the water level OR use the auto fill and it definitely does fill right to the top. I have been using auto fill only as it seems to be very accurate and I have found the washer does a great job in my opinion as all my clothes come out clean even stained dish towels dirty socks,, etc. It spins the clothes almost dry as well so to me the performance on this machine I like better than my old Speed Queen. I know there were negative reviews so I am not sure if that was done on test models or not but all I can say is since owning this machine I am very pleased I made the purchase and it is still built much better than any other on the market as well. I was apprehensive about it after reading all the negative response but I could not imagine that a company like SQ would actually market a machine that would not perform at least as well as the old models so I took the gamble and I am glad I did after looking into many different brands and models of machines. I have not posted any forma 'review' of my experience yet. I have used hand wash and delicate cycles as well. This machine is also so quiet you can't really hear it when washing.

Perhaps RyanM

has been fortunate enough to receive a properly programmed 2018 Speed Queen?

It's simply out of the question that everyone posting videos of these machines operating poorly made it up.

If that's the case - then, great!

Now, Speed Queen needs to contact every single owner (and apologize to quite a few former dealers) and reprogram the things to work as does Ryan's.

(This isn't snark, by the way - Miele did a similar thing in the Spring of 2007).

I'm sure that it works fine...but like I said earlier, these machines have turned into a modern machine. You can't just "throw and go" anymore like the previous models. Users need to pay attention to cycle choices, loading properly (not overloading), using plenty of water for the load, etc. Where as the previous models you could pretty much wash anything on any cycle without issue. Unfortunately that's not how most modern washers work anymore.
