Here I am on Cape Cod... It is Very Hot here..But I just can't get past the deliciousness of the Summer Breezes from my Vintage Fans and the A/C off.

A/C is Great during the day and keeping the place Mold and Mildew free, (And keeping the sheets crisp), but are there any people out there that love the option of turning the A/C and Loving the summer Breeze ?

BTW the KA Regency is entering the final rinse and the Hunter/Century Fan is on High and Ocillating.

Such Deliciousness on a Hot Summer Night.

Any one care to join in this Fabulous Sensation ???

No AC

Dearly love it when the humidity is low, nothing like the cool night breeze from an open window. Unfortunately here in Kentucky we have humidity levels on par with Louisiana most of the year, so open windows with no AC is a rare pleasure. I actually know many people, myself included, with old family photos from the pre air conditioning days still in their original worn out ugly frames, simply because years of high humidity have bonded the photos to the glass.

Guess we did not get all thte way into this excessive heat wave here. Today was cloudy and had some front come through that brought a big T-Storm that knocked out the satellite. Its 67 now but the dew point is 68 so its still going to be uncomfortable tonight. Was hoping for 1 night to save on the electric bill and not run the a/c, but it is on, oh well, too bad, so sad, pay for it next month.

No heat wave here (mid 70's this week), but I still can't get enough of the sea breeze.  It's particularly welcome when it breaks a hot spell, but I'm fine with moderate temperatures and the added cooling effect of the afternoon/evening breeze.  At it's best, it blows through from one end of the house to the other and no fans are required, but later at night after things go calm, I will kick on a window fan upstairs if required.

It has been a good summer...

...for open windows here in the boonies. If I am counting correctly, I've only used the bedroom air conditioner (only air conditioner in the house) seven times this summer (would have been more, but was in South Dakota the week of the Fourth - folks here say that it was "brutal" while I was away), more for the heat than the humidity. Normally, summers here see "air you can wear," and nothing but humidity haze. Haven't had much haze this year.

I too, like to sleep with all of the windows open, and it is so nice to wake to a cool and aired out house.

Due to the configuration of my house, the upstairs windows are not that large, and the roof is most of the room's ceilings (that's the way my great grandfather built the place), so it can get stuffy upstairs. My grandmother always told stories that as a child, in the early 1900s, and through her married years (my grandfather died in 1945), they slept on the front or back porch during the intense heat of the summer. Of course then, my road was a dirt road with four houses on it, so it would be pretty peaceful. Still is now, but the road is asphalt and there are thirteen houses here now.

It's been over a month since I've last had the windows open, and it's killing me.  I love to have a fresh breeze blowing through the house to air it out.  It is also very relaxing for me.
