I found out today that a good friend of mine was killed lastnight by a drunk driver while walking down the street. Matthew was a person that everyone could love, there wasn't a bad bone in that man's body. It's sad that his life had to end so sudden, and so tragically. Luckily they do have a person of interest as a suspect since the driver fled the scene on foot. All I ask of you as my friends is to PLEASE think twice about driving yours or anyone elses car no matter how little you've had to drink. And always becareful and watch out for yourselves out there, because you never know when tragedy may hit you. I would hate to see any of you or your loved ones, or anyone in general for that matter, have to go through something like this. Bless You all and I thank you for taking the time to listen.

Vern.

Vern:

I cannot tell you how sorry I am to hear of your loss. That is a tragic thing to have happen. Matthew did not deserve for any such thing to happen to him, no matter what sort of person he was. That he was a good person makes it doubly awful.

Vern i am sorry about your lost, and you will be in my prayers to the universe.
I have lost many friends and no the feeling.
Be well and relax, now he's hanging out with the godfather of soul and there having a good time.
I'm sure there both will live inside you always, and what and experience for you knowing them both.
Peace to you.

Thank you very much.

There are quite a few with us that are having a hard time with this. Even his co-workers are having a difficult time with him being gone. He always greeted you with a smile and always had something funny to say. He was 31 years old but a total kid at heart. He was honestly a person that no one could say anything bad about. He loved making his friends laugh and to keep them happy. Here's a link to one of the newscast videos if you're interested in seeing it. Plus you'll get a better understanding of how much Matthew was a part of our lives. Thank you so very much again.

Vern:

I'm so sorry for your loss. That is terrible. No doubt at all that Matthew was an awesome guy. FWIW, I'm sure he's still smiling.

My heart goes out to you and all the other people wwho loved him. Time heals all, and you will always have him in your heart. Peace. David

Vern-

I am very sorry. I have had several friends and relatives die in this horrible way.

Remember the laughter and love.

My Condolences:

Vern, go out to you, as does my Heart to you and your Friends that your Friend and his Families all knew. I haven't ever lost someone in an Accident of such, as far as like someone Drinking and Driving, but I have lost several real good Classmate Friends, who took their lives and some who were in a Wreck, but not because of someone Drinking and Driving.

I've also as many here have our losses from the unfortunate Health Issues and they are all very Dear to us and so sad to loose, other than just by Natural Causes.

I will Pray for you and your Friend and for his Peace. Know that his Spirit is up with our Heavenly Father and he/they will always be in our Hearts, Minds and Toughts forever.

Peace, Blessings, Prayers and Hugs, Steve

Am very sorry for your loss

This is the EXACT reason I would not help a employee that drinks to druken dazes most weekends get a car.

Talk to him. He still hears you.

Energy (and love) can neither be created nor destroyed, it merely changes form.

“With the Saints give rest, O Christ, to the soul of Your servant where there is no pain, nor sorrow, nor suffering, but life everlasting.”

To the dearly departed: “May your memory be eternal.”

So sorry for your loss.I agree with you about driving drunk one should not drive no matter how little they have had to drink.I almost lost my life to a drunk driver when I was younger.

Condolences Vern. I think it's a safe bet many of us have lost relatives and friends due to drunk driving. I lost three high school friends to it, in separate accidents.

In the quiet moments

I am holding you close in love, support and prayer. The quiet times are when the feelings will flood over you. In accepting the grief you are able to move to memories, the place where you can remember Matthew as he was and is.

Thank you all so very much.....

...for your kind words and support. Everytime I read a new message it brings tears to my eyes. You all are such good people and I can't thank you enough from the bottom of my heart. And my heart goes out to as well for losing loved ones. It just goes to show that you should live life to it's fullest and make the most out of everyday, cause you never know when it may be your last.

Vern, that's an awful thing to happen. My mother is a retired Trauma Nurse and Paramedic. After seeing too many of them, she made me swear never to do that. I never did, although that may have something to do with her saying something about knowing how to 'cause great pain and suffering without leaving those pesky bruises for evidence...'

You'll find your way back to your happy place and then the good memories will come.

Thanks again everyone. Your kind words and sympathy are really helping. A few of us got together lastnight and reminisced about all the fun we had together with Matthew. I know he was there with us since we were all in such an uplifted mood, laughing, telling old stories and letting him know that we're thinking about him constantly. You all have been a great help and again I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Love you!

So sorry about your friend. You just never know. He seemed like someone that I would have loved to meet.
Sorry for you loss.
Brent

I am so sorry about your friend.

I used to not even think about haveing a beer or glass of wine with friends and driving home, until I was hit head-on by a drunk six years ago.

Since then I won't chance doing to someone else what that man did to me.

Check you local directory to see if there is a DUI victims center close by that can help you deal with your loss.

Thank you Brent and Iheartmaytag........

Brent, you're right, he's definitely someone you would never forget. He had a heart of gold and wore it on his sleeve. And he was so much fun to be around. There was never a dull moment with him.

Iheartmaytag, I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. I am glad though to know that you made it through ok. If I get real bad I'll for sure check into a victim center close by. Matthew had so many friends we've all been leaning on each other for support and it's been helping. Thank you all for your help.
