Mike, Leslie (MagicClean) & I were reminiscing last night about the early 2000s wash-ins in Minnie and DC.  And let's not forget arming the Hettie at Sears!!  I particularly love the Colston Jetstream 1400.  It looks "so 80s".  Such a nice variety of programmes.  On the left side there's the "on" button, but what's the difference between Button A and Button B given the "On" button is right next to them?

WOW it looks like all you guys had a great time, and the collection of laundry appliances looks great in their museum setting.

 

We are starting to plan a big Wash-In this summer here in the Beltsville Md. Museum { dates to be announced ]

 

I hope to get to Europe again sometime in 2017, hopefully we will get a chance to see some of your great machines in person.

to relive such a great weekend through this thread mike, thanks for taking the time to post these photos, and as always spend time with an ever growing group of friends. I can't think of the words to type, but many thanks to Al and you for all you did to make the weekend so special. I can see from the international response we can look forward to making many more friends over the coming years.

I've also proudly shown this thread to family and even friends at work who couldn't quite get what we get up to on these weekends, now they know lol.

Hi Keith, yes its at Alistair`s new place and fab it is, the twinnies and single tubs are stacked on double dexion racking in the garage and are brought in when required and stuf moved around, alas there is still a number in storage but looks like (fingers crossed) going to another display area soon - let me know if you want anything for your up and coming display at The Lightbox assuming its all systems go for it? AND if you have a spare washpump from breaking up the twin 6 please let us know, Darren`s looking for one for another project!!

Hi Steve, yes Hoover quite prominent at the mo ha ha...we do have other classics from Servis, Hotpoint, Parnall and Creda but the feature wall is currently host to a world first, all the styles of the Hoover Keymatics with keyplate action, that wall will rotate in time.

John, would be great to see you here for a visit, let us know dates etc and also keep us informed of your dates for the Beltsville Md. Museum next year!!

Hi Mike, I kinda lost track of who's place it was - been working away a lot and didn't see the original thread, great display !!
We are really excited about the display that is hopefully going to take place at the Lightbox museum in 2016, my mate Gary has close connections with one of the head guys there and we are just in discussions at the moment.
I broke up that Twin 6 ages ago, I will have a bit of a hunt around to see if any bits are still kicking around..it may have got used on my Blue Supermatic, but will check.

Hi Bob, more reading for you, scanned a few relevant pages of the Colston 1400, lovely dishwasher and and main parts pump etc, made by Smeg which is a premium manufacturer! Button A increases wash time and button B lowers temperature from 60d to 45d for light soil, glasses and eco feature.

Wow, I am totally speechless at such an amazing night, living down in London it's quite far away but I would love to one day get to visit such a place and get to 'plug n play'.

Love the line up of Keymatic's and my all time favourite the A3060, we just need an A3064 Selectamatic to complete the top 3 New Magic line-up (easier said than done lol).

Mike, I appreciate all the efforts you and everyone have gone to make such a wonderful room where it's comforting to know that all the machines I and others cannot provide the space for are in a safe place, would be nice to see the Hotpoint 9900 there one day.

I would love to one day come up there, and would be a pleasure to meet you all as I have so much respect for you guys looking after these machines. Whoever was in charge of where the machines went in that room is a genius, the Keymatics all together, A3060 with its 'Aluminium' counterparts etc.

In Cardiff, I don't suppose there are any rare Hotpoint machines? I'm not too familiar with the collector, am I right in saying he is called Matthew? (the one who owns the Selectamatic).

The time has come...

So it looks as though the time has come for me to part with the Hoover A3110. The reason being is that for practical reasons the A3110 has been sat in the shed since last winter, covered up and protected the best it can be, however this is not the same as being in a heated house and in regular use.

Over the weekend I decided to take it out of the shed and bring it back into the house for regular use relegating my Maytag to the shed for a bit. I love the Hoover and I have emotional attachment to it but its not getting the use or enjoyment being stuck in the shed.

I left it sat in the house overnight to come upto room temperature even though we haven't hit winter yet and temps have been mild still. I plumbed it all in on Sunday and noted the cold water valve was noisy. The timer didn't seem to happy either and didn't make the usual clicking sounds. I put it on a 40C wash (E) and went out and did my shopping. It seemed to be doing ok and all heated up ok and drum turning fine and draining out. I got back and the RCD had tripped out and the machine was full of water and sat at cycle G. I took the machine outside and emptied this out and noted as I was moving it there was silver foil (it looked like confetti) all over the floor under the machine. You'll see the pictures that when I moved the machine there was also some places on the floor where water had dripped onto the floor. I was going out so didn't have time to look properly as I had drained and disconnected the machine by this point but there was water dripping from the bottom of the tub but this hadn't got anywhere near the motor or anything. Upon taking the lid of it was clear the mains filter had blown. I know these are not needed any more due to the world of digital and I could potentially bypass this and get it up and running but it was the water on the floor that has put me off. You'll see in the first pic there is a gap in the wooden floor panels where there is just floor boards beneath and you can tell the colour tone difference from the wet and dry bits.

I think its possibly time I donate the machine to the museum, I really feel attached to it and would be a shame to see it go but unless I bring this back into daily use in the house its going to end up deteriorating in the shed. There is rusting around the door which was previously patched up and the back panel is rusting too. I don't want the machine to get any worse. Its a shame as I was going to bring the machine back into daily use and possibly give my maytag to my brother as they are in desperate need of a washer.

Hi Al, yeah I know what your saying as I have a lot of emotional attachment to it but with the water that I found on the floor etc. I know the mains filter can be bypassed as they are no longer needed. I think I am going to bring it to the meet.
