From the ladies who lunch, to the ones who meet themselves at the schools, it is ALL one hears on the streets (happen to live not very far from Mr. Spitzer's town address), and for a Monday, this tony part of Manhattan is buzzing. Suppose one will hear more after the market closes and the men get home from their offices. Have a hairdresser's appointment later this week, and am sure it will be all anyone is speaking about.

Mr. Spitzer has made quite name for himself wagging is finger and telling others to do this, that and the other; hounding Mr. Hevesi out of office and such, well THIS is just a nice lovely little scandal.

OK, I get sick of the whole double-moral thing. A working girl offers a hell of a lot more to society than many "honorable" professions. Politician being one.
But still - you have to just assume that the Republicans are tailing every single high profile Democrat these days, just looking for dirt (which rule of magik is that? "like seeks like"?).
And he didn't even make them work for it.
Sigh.
On the other hand, at least it popped now and not in a few weeks. He resigns, the usual christianists pontificate, in two weeks it's all forgotten. Now might be a good time to ask that Senator from Virginia for his opinion on this topic. What was his name again? No, not Mr. Tap-happy-McPants, the other one...no not him, he was diddling pages,,,oh, right - Vitter. There have been so many the last years, it's hard to keep track.
What is the Republican policy on adultery? You can cheat on your wife, get caught and all is forgiven as long as it was, one, with a woman and two, you have "got right with God" by talking to a prominent christianist TV preacher, who, for a minor fee (shipping and handling) will testify you tripped and fell on her. Oh, and, three, you are a Republican.
Sheesh.
 
Well, in this day and age of glass houses (and the internet) we had all better learn how to urinate elegantly. It ALL comes out in the wash.

In the meantime, I'll bet I know what one candidate has in mind to keep her "fellow" (pun intended) polititicans in-line

What really makes me mad

is that they then always drag their poor wives out to embarrass them in front of the whole world.
"Gee, sweetums - I just got caught diddling someone else, so please come stand next to me and pretend you forgive me, what an upright christianist I am, etc."
I would applaud any of those women in an instant if they marched up to the podium, smiled for the camera, reached into their big satchel purses, took out some prints and said:
"And wait until you see the rest of the dirt I have on this mangy cur."
Not that European politicians are one bit less scum-baggy.

There is some filth which just never washes off. No matter how clean you try to keep your firehose.
Besides, in that case it was the other way around - it was the troops who got...well, guess I need to watch my language or the delicate souls will get the vapors.
Then we'll get to hear how shocked they are, just shocked I tell you...
Why is prostitution illegal in the first place? Never could get my head around that one.

Just for the record, Republicans are not "tailing" anyone.

Mr. Spitzer's misconduct came to light via a wiretap of an escort service that was busted last week in New York. It went by the name of "Emperor" or some such and supplied high end "escorts" for men in Washington DC, London, Paris, New York, and other cities.

Four persons were arrested last week in connection with running the service, and this is scandal is coming to light in view of information gathered from that investigation.

How sad is all this? Wow, I can't wait to see the headline on tomorrows issue of that rag the New York Post lol.

The saddest part of the whole thing is once again we look like total fools to the rest of the educated and intellectual parts of the world, because once again its all about SEX. Granted Elliot was suppose to be tough on crime, but I'm sorry Wall Street Insider Trading/Corruption and having sex with a prostitute in my book is like night and day. I've always had respect for Elliot because he seemed to be fair and he was on the gay communities side when it came to the marriage issue. I was so happy to see him elected.

Once again this is no ones business except between him and his wife. The fact that prostitution is illegal and not regulated and kept safe is another sad sad state of affairs that only a country made up of atheists and intellectuals can dream of living in. There's a reason why its called the "oldest profession in the world" and who honestly thinks some silly law making it illegal is going to stop what comes so naturally to so many. Please it ain't rocket science, good luck with that.

What would be totally fabulous right now is if Elliot's wife would get up there and say "oh god whatever people, I told him to please go have fun, be safe and I will too, then we came home, talked about it and went shopping for new furniture for the living room". That would be so cool and so 21st century living, but unfortunately most in this country aren't ready or willing or able to deal with reality so fairy tales will have to take precedent.

Too bad Mr. Spitzer (disgraced Governor of New York State) wasn't taking care of business with Mr. McGreevey (discgraced former Governor of the State of New Jersey).

They both could have perhaps avoided scandal.

You're right about that toggle especially when both Samantha and Jeannie were having SEX (not with each other mind you, they were on different networks).
