Me... Until this point I've kept any personal photos off the forum as I'm a relatively private person. So, this me with one of the loves of my life -- practicing Sunday evening on the 94 Rank Moller Opus 9207.
I love her, she is filled with great power, and when I'm with her I forget everything else around me. When I'm finished I feel like I've had a workout. Once again, keep your comments clean.

Congrats on finally showing yourself (folks I'm trying). I probably posted a year or more before I finally said to H with it and threw out my picture. Anyways,, it's much easier to relate to people I think when you get a visual of them, kinda makes them real, not some mysterious entity. And I might add I never realized or recollected that you played the organ which is odd and not odd because there are so many organists both here and on the vacuum site. I'm more an organ dabbler. Do you have anything on Youtube and lastly are you strictly classic/liturgical or do you also like to jazz it up a little

Blades of Water

Can you swivel your ankles and dance like the action of the "Blades of Water?" For no particular reason I have imagined a more seasoned gentleman and not one so young.

Aferim!

I've always been amazed by the power and beauty of organ music. It can be frightening, comical, sacred and profane. How do you guys do it?

If you were trying to win someone over to organ music, what piece would you play?

It always amazes me....

....how a single individual can play an instrument (but WHAT an instrument) with only 2 hands and 2 feet....

No wonder you feel as if you've had a work out....

So many talented musicians.

Very nice to see face pics!

Private person? LOL Your full name and birthday and town and state are listed. That's a big no-no (risky) in my neck of the woods. anyhoo...

I'm not too familiar with organ music in that in my religion's litury there is usually usally a cantor/chanter that drones/chats in the Middle-Eastern / Islamic /Jewish style. "Byzantine Chant"

I wish I did play "keyboards" but alas no talent. The link at bottom is ethnic keybords, not religious.

Here is a link to a chant. Religious...so don't go there if you don't want to experience it.

LOL so what do we get out of all this? after 450 years of foreign occupation you learn a few things from "them". LOL

Great to see a face with a name.

Joe:
Neat console picture. Can we hijack your thread so all the organists can post? How many of us are there? What year is the Moller? What church? I'll post a pic of our Casavant. Catastrovant, as we call it in Boston.

Hi Joe. Great pic of you and the organ. I have two friends in our church that are organists in our church. The original organist is 31 and he was our main guy for several years but when on to become a priest and plays for Saturday night mass and fills in for our main guy. I can listen to that music for hours. Our mian morganist also has a beautiful deep voice and does sing all parts of the mass when our regular cantor is not there. I just feel so good when I leave Mass or a special event (Like in Advent when we have Lessons and Carols on a Sunday night in Advent). Choirs from two churches plus extras sing. It is just so beautiful, and the organ is played is really played loud which I love. I just goes right through me.

Joe....If you are interested, I have a really nice rendition of Silent Night that is very old and have not heard sung by anyone else before. Our choir made an album in 1963 and now it was made into a CD. This arrangement of Silent Night is where a soloist sings her voice then the choir sings in the background joing in with her. I have to find the sheet music and see the actual name of the arrangement. It is in English, but also translated into Polish. Our parish was originally an ethnic Polish parish.

You can email privately if you would like a copy.

You too Bobby DeRegis....
It is really a nice arrangement.

Re:

Thanks for you comments everyone, I'll respond in order of the postings.

Youtube, nah I don't have anything on there or anything good enough to record with. I don't play jazz organ but I respect those who can play the other styles, I'm strictly classical/liturgical.

Yep, I can swivel my ankles around, I never had any trouble learning pedals... Most people would find me to be old-fashioned for my age. I admire things of substance and quality and aspire as such, but I'm not above having a good time either -- within reason.

If I were trying to win someone over I would likely use an arrangement I have on How Great Thou Art that begins as a solo piece and builds the cadence to full organ with the '32 's and festival trumpets with full handed chords. Or maybe the Widor Toccata.

Hijacking, sure go for it, you all are doing a good job keeping it clean -- keep it that way.

The Organ, originally was installed in '58 by Moller, and then re-worked and added to by them again in '91. An Antiphonal expansion is planned.

I'm not committed to anyone on a Sunday and I don't play for a church, not anymore, and I don't want to either. I work as the facility manager at the church where this organ is. I've been there for 13 years and this is the instrument that started it all for me. I studied privately for 5 years and then "life" has kept me from going any further. I do continue to push myself to learn new things and grow, as time passes my techniques solidify, and improve. The most I do anymore is a few private concerts here and there for small groups and close friends.

The Congregational Church of Needham, Massachusetts

This is my little church where I am organist and choir director. It's a Casavant organ from 1997, 40 rks, 3 manuals. I don't have a console picture at hand.

I may as well share a pic here too.
here is a pic of St. Michaels R.C. church, we are a small parish in our 1917 church built in the spanish mission style, we only have seating for 250 people. We currently have a 1995 Rodgers 2 manual digital organ with midi(equivalent to the current Rodgers Trillium series)replaced a 1951 whurlitzer console attached to the 3 ranks of pipes from the original organ in 1922. The console is located in the back right corner of the altar, I would love to have a few ranks of pipes added to our Rodgers.

BTW, Bobby and Joe, I love the pics of your churches

what very nice photos...

...and anyone that could play an organ with that many controls has got to be both smart and talented...landing the Space Shuttle would be easier...
