Been listening to Cole Porter lately, and if he didn't write a song named "Toast of the Town", he'd probably have written one about this little gem. It's a Sunbeam, with original wiring. Works, too.
The little red light on the front is not a separate lamp, but rather the light of the red hot coils transmitted to the magic cut glass crystal... Here's a close-up:
Drool!
I have been keeping my eye out for one of those for years! Anyone remember seeing them in the 80s and 90s Kellogg's Pop Tarts commercials? I do wonder why they used a toaster made from 1939-1952 in commercials in the 80s and 90s. If you ever need to replace the cord, try Sundial Wire. They make some very nice modern cloth covered wire. It looks old, but has the safety of new. I have used it and really like it.
Highest quality US-made cloth-covered wire in many styles, colors, patterns, and gauges. Fully customizable pendants and cord sets, new and vintage lighting. A rich array of lamp parts. Knob and tube wire and procelain. Lots of how-to and information pages.
Well, I didn't realize this was such a classic item, only that I really liked the shape of it. Also have never seen the Pop-tart commerical - or if I did, I never noticed what kind of toaster was in it.
Also got a chrome 50's era Toastmaster. One bakelite handle is broken. Is there any way to get replacement handles?
Rich,
Sent me an address, I have a bunch of toaster parts and I know I have ends for toastmaster, my toaster collection exceeds 300, the t-9 is one of my favorites and is on the kitchen counter as we speak,
