Last Friday my second batch of vacuums came from Scott-3 Hoovers models 28,61,and 115. also two "Luxes"-G models. One turquoise, and the other tan and Grey. Both are perfect-work really well. Also the Hoovers. These are the best I have ever seen for machines of their age.The Hoover 115 sure beats my Oreck!!!

Aren't those Hoover Juniors great? I have a U1025 (approx. 1974-5), and it has more suction than some of my full-sized uprights! I haven't tried the 115 but both are the same basic design so it's probably just as powerful! Congratulations on the new arrivals!

Scott, if you're reading this, I didn't forget about your Electrolux Model S; when I get a hose/attachments (hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks) I'll be sure to let everyone know!!! I did take many pictures of the new arrival so I'll post them as well! :)

Almost forgot...

Here's my Junior alongside my 1980's Eureka 630D...I keep both in my room and use 'em at least once a week in there!

The juniors are very nice cleaners, and quite powerful for their size. They'd be a nice thing now, with some folks living in small apartments and such. Austin, ask your Dad if he had any pants in the 70s that looked like the bag on your Hoover Jr. I know I did! LOL So glad you like the model S, and it'll be fun to see when you've pulled together the other pieces!

Down the line I'd like to get one of the 70s juniors that has the green hood and bag (otherwise designed like yours Austin), because I like green and because it would go nice with my convertibles and such!

I also sent Rex an Air-way Sanitizor 88 Mark II like you used to have and had posted a pic of. He got that one late last week in kind of a "mini batch". The UPS folks know me by first name right now between Rex and Ebay. I think I've about wrapped up the shipping though, at least for now!

Hoover 115

I tried looking up some info on the 115-one site mentioned it was from about 1950.the machine needs a height adjust-or is it that I can't find how to adjust it-my carpets are very deep. The machine works on it-but pushes hard-like the nozzle height needs to be raised-its a tough little machine-think they should still make these-not only for home use-but office cleaners might like these as well-would be very agile around the desks and office furniture. It seems to have more power than my Oreck-some office cleaners like those because of agility. Then they use a larger upright for the large unobstructed carpet areas.also the proposed machines should be metal as well.Better durability. And the two other Hoovers work perfectly on my carpets.I can see some F&G bags for their future.Looks like they could fit. Will save the pack of "EverClean" bags for my archives.Love the variance of bags that came with the machines. The Hoover "Handisacs" are quite interesting. If you pick up something really nasty or powdery-just throw them out-for other things you could dump it and use again.Gives additional filtration to the cloth bag.

On my machine, the height adjustment is naturally very difficult to adjust and I have to do it with the nozzle off of the ground. Has nothing to do with cleaning/oiling it, etc...

I'm not sure if the 115 had a height adjustment, but there's really no reason why it wouldn't have one...

Rex, look underneath. If you look under the 61, there's kind of a little metal thing that adjusts the rear wheels. Does the 115 have something similar to that? I just can't remember.

Am I a heretic?

I just got a little Hoover Swingette 409(turned into the Porta-Power) that I like very much. In the deal, I also got a Hoover Slimline 2017 in hideous lime green. I don't need that one so it's up on ebay.
But here's a question about the Swingette. It's an ugly dun color with yellow (!!) doors covering the bag and exhaust. Would it be a heinous crime to paint it? I was thinking pink, and I already have some Krylon Fusion paint...

Veg, are you the one listed right now that actually says something like "hideous lime green vacuum" or some such thing in the ad? LOL Scott

That's Me!

Yup. If you search "hideous lime green hoover" you should come up with my Slimline.

Geez, I didn't think it was desirable enough for anyone here to want it, which is why I put it on the bay.

I mean, it really IS hideous lime green...

And really, what's wrong with a pink Swingette? With a name like that, pink seems the only logical color.

Beats the heck out of lime green!

Hoover upright tool kit

also in the chest was a Tool kit for the older Hoover uprights-even has the Demother attachment similar to the Kirby. This was from the days when Hoover was still sold DTD and competing against Kirby. Also the Hoover 115 "Jr." is sort of like a miniature Royal Classic-tool attachment port in the front under a metal cover to get to the belt and a port for the fan opening that looks like it could be used with an attachment hose.Truely a cool machine.Very effective too.

Hi Rex,

My Junior takes type C bottom-fill bags. It uses the same fill tube as the Convertibles, however, uses a different bag bellows (connects the fill tube to the outlet). When it arrived in July 2003, the original bellows was somehow melted!! Luckily a vacuum store in Houston had some in their warehouse, so I ordered one along with a couple of belts. Turns out the replacement bellows was Genuine Hoover NOS--1986! Glad I didn't wait!!!

Veg, the Swingette also came in a "pink/lavenderish" color which I find to be the more common color of the Swingettes. I'll let you know if I see one on eBay, but keep your EXTREMELY rare Lime Green version the same color!!!

Eureka 630D

Hi Austin,

We bought that same machine when we moved into our new house in 1989. Becasue we had 3 floors(tri-level) my mom did not want to keep cartin around our Kirby Tradition from floor to floor.

We bought that exact machine at K-Mart, with the attachment caddy for I believe $79.99. It only had two positions and a 3.5 amp motor or maybe a 4.0 amp. It worked where we needed it in the basement but went along with my sister when she moved to Atlanta. She still uses it as her second vacuum so she has told me attachments tho are long gone.

That machine has a distinctive whine to it...almost like a meduim speed on a Mixmaster or soemthing...anywa glad you like It..I did and used it well in my room at home also.

I'd say the Eureka 630D is my favorite vacuum; I use it (and the Junior) to clean my room and my room ONLY. I did find an NOS attachment kit (made around the same time which is good) for the 630D on eBay. It works well and better tool suction than my Convertibles, IMHO.

We had an orange-trimmed 70's Eureka upright that we used as the "upstairs vacuum" until I was about 4. It had that same high-pitched whine which sounded really cool (in fact we have an old home video where I was about 2 years old and using it!), however, it liked to spew dust (outer bag was torn in a few places...but I don't see how that would affect it). We also had the "blue" version (I've never seen one like it again) at the same time that we kept downstairs. It was in perfect shape (came from my uncle; from what I was told he rarely used it) and my mom preferred using it instead of the "red vacuum" until my dad picked up sheetrock with it and seized the motor up! I know that if I was older I would have fixed it, but we replaced both with a crappy Eureka "Bravo! The BOSS". After going through numerous "disposable" vacuums, the "main house machines" now are a 1978 Hoover Dial-A-Matic (with attachments), 1970 Hoover Convertible 1020 (configured for Type A top-fill bags; with attachments), and a Sanitaire Commercial 16" Upright; no plans of buying anything new here!
