Hi as some of you may know i am tinkering about with a vintage Kenwood Dishmaster Uk dishwasher from about 1957 (see earlier post) I so far have got all of the machines heating and filling back to original working order. However the bakelite impeller has signs of damage , and i am wondering if this will impede washing performance. My question is does anyone have a spare impeller from a unused machine ,that i could buy?. Also my question to impeller machine users is that how effective are they? Early Which magazines (a uk consumer mag) did not rate any early machines very well. If i could replace the impeller i might like to try to use this machine as my daily driver!

Any help would be appreciated!!

Richard

I'm no Expert

But it looks like a standard one from the 50's. The old HotPoints,Whirlpools and GEs seem to have the same "swoop" towards the top of the impeller blade which I see on yours is missing a few chunks. It might impede the thrust of water to the top rack. My only suggestion at this point is to do a water test. I have a few vintage shots that I will look for but can't remember which file they're in. I'll look and post as soon as I find them.

yes missing top edges!

Hi top loader 55 i think my impeller looks as if some top edges are missing too, i have tried washing with the machine but the attached video may have water levels too low but water seemed to fountain up the centre of the machine but not spray out to the cups on the outer edges, do you know what the likely hood of getting a one from the hotpoint etc from the 50s may be ? Do appliance repairers over there still stock such parts?

Many thanks

Richard
