Phil,

Those are some very interesting televisions you have for sale. I've always thought owning one of those early projection sets would be very cool. That Westinghouse TV scares me. It looks so very, very old...it was made the same year as I was born.

Drexel...they made several TOL cabinets for Motorola. They also made cabinets for early Magnavox models. The cabinet on my 1947 Magnavox Windsor is by Drexel.

thanks for posting

Yikes! $1500 or thereabouts...and to think they could be found a few years ago for very little money. Finding one where the speakers don't show through the fabric was very difficult. I suppose if someone really wanted one badly enough they'd pay top dollar. Such kilowatt-hungry things these CG's are.

$1500

..is what they're looking for, a price closest to what they saw on eBay. Each CG is different, and without an upfront and personal experience, an eBay comparison is dreaming.

btw, anyone who might be interested in vintage Magnavox, a new site, born from the frustrations of the Yahoo group software, is here, with a Magnavox sighted area to post latest sightings of different Maggies. That's how I found the CG above.

Too bad not near me-for that your dollar goes a long way-beautiful peice of Hi-Fi gear even if the speakers show thru the grill covers. My Mom had one made after this one.Sadly some of these are victims of the "breakers" they gut the unit and sell the components-Guitarists love the bass speakers. The amps go to Hi-fi guys.It is an excellent power Bi-amp.

Stromberg Carlson Classic Radio/Phono

I have seen 3 or 4 of these Stromberg Carlson "Oriental" cabinets but only as televisions. A couple of them had been gutted and converted into liquor cabinets. This is the first radio/phono model I've seen. The top on this is damaged but since it's black lacquer refinishing it doesn't seem like a major project. Having the receiver section repaired and rebuilt would be worth the expense. Fortunately the record changer is the 78 rpm original and most likely fixable too. This would make an enjoyable project after which you would have a very nice piece. On ebay, $50 opening bid. In Arcadia which is not that far from me, but with a half-dozen "projects" still waiting for my attention I'll pass.

I'm not too sure if members still look at this topic...

I'm always looking, LOL! I just can't buy unless I move into a huge loft or warehouse. :-)
That oriental cabinet is elaborate - not exactly my style but if finished, nice conversation piece.
