the best

Example I have ever seen of creating a kitchen in the 21st century which is functional, aesthetically pleasing, respects the design gestalt of the mid-20th century and just plain looks like a nice place to be.
Perfect.

Oh wow Paul, the finished product looks stellar. You guys did a great job in planning, procuring the goods, and executing a beautiful finished product. Few would have even come close.

Congrats!

Ben

Awesome layout

That kitchen really looks inviting to work in. Two, three, up to four people could be cooking or preping at the same time if needed, and not get in each other's way. I was just hoping to see a turquoise or chrome mixer on the counter. A vintage Sunbeam model 11 or 12 or a Kitchenaid 3C in Seafoam green or brushed chrome looks like it belongs next to your Oster blender.

Awesome Mixer and Cake!

Paul, great looking mixer and I bet that Cocoa Angel food cake was great tasting as well. That is a fat free dessert I make on occasion as well. My favorite cake for testing an oven is old fashioned yellow butter layer cake. I also use Rumford baking powder because others have an after taste I don't like.

I moved about 6 months ago from an apartment to a house and adjusting to having a gas oven now after using electric stoves for over 25 years. To bake cakes staying accurate to the recipe times I had to lower the thermostat 30 degrees(F).

My mother still is cooking using a 48" Tappan gas stove bought in 1949! The only repair it has ever needed was the oven thermostat about 30 years ago. She also is still using a Hotpoint refrigerator that was bought back in 1952! To keep it frost free, she has timer connected to it and water collects in the chiller tray that she empties about once a week. My mom still has the Hamilton Beach food mixer, a white model H, that Dad gave her the same year I was born! Her 1952 Toastmaster toaster bit the dust about 8 yrs ago! Some how she has managed to have appliances that have served her well. She taught my sister and I how to cook and care for the appliances to keep them new looking. Once a month we spent Saturdays using Jubilee polish and Glaswax in the kitchen and bathroom. Sis and I carried over the same habits to our own households today.

Your Turquoise Sunbeam Model 11 Mixmaster!

Great to see another Model 1l Mixmaster still in working order! For some reason that model was only in production a short time! When Consumer Reports tested it back in 1955, their samples had bearing failures during their endurance testing. It had received a low rating due to failing that test. With as many as I see surfacing for re-sale on ebay, I am guessing it wasn't a flaw that affected most of the Model 11 mixers manufactured.

Wow Paul, that cake looks great, can almost taste a big slice right now with some fresh whipped cream, made of course in the vintage turquoise Sunbeam mixmaster!!

Wonderful kitchen Paul! Contratulations! I know you will enjoy this room for many years to come.
