uhhhhh not really

Some would call me a real B**CH
Seriously though, that 719 looks pristine, I hope it does well for you and goes for big $$$ There are still a fair number of old Convertibles out there, but not nearly as many as there used to be, so they need to be preserved.
That 719 should have a high serial number on it, its got the deluxe grip on the handle, those were at the end of the run.
The 719 was in production from December of 1968 to August of 1971

the 1060 is my fave convertible. two position adjuster and VERY tastefull, color wise. when i joined ebay i had just found mine at a thrift store for three dollars. is that why you chose "1060" as your name here? David

Concept

1060

David,
The 1060 is one I've known all my life, when I was 3 or 4 my parents bought my grandmother a new one for Christmas, complete with deluxe model 1061 cleaning tools which today remain in their unopened box. Grandma's 1060 was to replace her model 28, but it never really did. I inherited all her vacuums when she passed away, and today that 1060 is one of the jewels in my collection.
I have one other 1060 thats never been used, courtesy of Chad(Programcomputer) He found it unused in the box in a thrift store and sent it to me. I keep it in my bedroom, next to a matching 843 tilted Connie.
Aside from sentimental stuff, its my opinion that the 1060 was the Convertibles finest hour. When it was introduced(spring 1966) the design was almost 10 years old, all the bugs were out, and the new square hood and colors made for a very striking look. It was also the last TOL Convertible with the 2-position height adjustment, and was Consumer Reports top scoring upright in 1967. The 1060 was a turning point.
Given all that, I made 1060 my email address, and my name on here, as a tribute of sorts to one of my all time favorite Convertibles.
I'll post a pic of the two I have tonight.

when i first found the 1060 it was in a huge bin, under clothes and rubbish. this was a special "clearance" store that presents its merch to customers in huge mixed lots. i think only the handle was sticking out. the lens was duct-taped onto the hood and the foreskin-style bag retainer was torn to shreds. it cleaned up very nicely, cept for some wear on the bag. i had the chance to get a very nice 1070 (another of my favorites) but that was before i realised it was OKAY to have vacuum for fun. ive bought many excellent vacs at this clearance store, including a very nice model 31 with good hood and original bag. the bag retainer on the 31 MUST have been replaced, it was perfect

The Virgin

Never used, found NEW in the box... an absolute beauty!
This is from late in the run, serial #0332,129

mine is#0122430

if you ask me i think Hoover shoulda had a whole series of Convertibles with the cafe au lait (as i call it) colored base. is it me or does the color have a hint of blush to it? the darker cord/bumper/handle bootie accents are to die for! you mention the "bugs" being solved, you speak like a TRUE Hoover loyalist. i think the bag holder/lever weakens the handle too much and WHAT was hoover thinking when they devised the foreskin-style bag retainer?? is the one on your NIB 1060 still soft? David

Grandma's...

New for Christmas in 1967, making me 3 1/2 when I was purchased. My parents bought this for grandma to use on the new carpeting she got that year. They paid $79.95 for the cleaner and $20 for the deluxe tools of which the box was never opened.
Grandma had a Hoover model 28 and a Lux XXX, the 1060 got put away in the closet and was used very little up til about 1982 when I finally was given the 28.
Grandma passed away in 1986, the 1060 has been mine ever since. I've used it, enjoyed it, and treasured it.
This one is from early in the run, 49,000 and some.
